Corner Gate with SNOT Walls

After the Create-a-Theme contest got my building juices going again, I tackled the city gate to go with my SNOT walls.

The result can be seen here.

My goal was to make a gate that sits at the corner of the enclosing city walls. That meant creating a 45 degree turn on each end of the gate structure, seen here.

studs out walls provide an excellent opportunity for adding texture, brick patterns, and other coolness.

I agree but as is I don't think I like the texture of the wall. If you think about all of the possibilities for this kind of wall it is truly amazing. Great idea.

Ive never like snot walls because they look like the builder had to many 6 x 6 plates rather than bricks and lazily attach them on to what they can. However these walls were well planned and were uniform unklike others 5/5 -great Job

You don't see too many people using yellow roofs, but I like yours. The way that you made those uniform arrow slits along the entire length of both long walls is also very nice.

Thanks. The arrow slits are something of an obsession with me - not sure why.

The yellow was one part necessity - I've got lots of yellow - and two parts: "not much yellow in MOCs these days". Maybe because yellow isn't common in TLC castle sets (as opposed to 'the castle that started it all') and the other colours seem so common.

Ultimately, I chose yellow on a whim. Glad you like it.

What is this large piece? I do not recognize it. Is it the one from the Tic-Tac-Toe?
Anyway I really like you wall. I agree with Bricksidge, SNOT building can provide you with unique opportunities of unique designs.

This is it. I bought 48 of them from Troy. The basic unit cost me about $2 (shipping included) to create each section - 14 pieces per section.

Nice Castle wall!

I've thought about doing SNOT walls before, but I always thought that you can build bigger walls with only the stack-a-brick style.
