What a cool set! Gotta love that dragon - clever use of it as the motive power for one of the most unique designs in all the Castle line. I can just hear Willa shout "Ramming speed!" with those two deadly halbards facing forward.
My next question is: did I have any of you going for a minute? Yup, this sets sucks. The big goose egg outta ten (for you non-idiomatic english speakers, that means "zero").

Not even a 1 for the dragon, TTK?
Objectively, you are all right about this set. Subjectively, I have a (small) soft spot for it, since it provided my first (so far only) dragon. Throw in ship rigging, the fact that it also had my first halberds...
I probably wouldn't get it again, though, unless the price was low enough that getting another dragon* would be worth it.
*clearly the highlight of this set, looking back over my post.

heh heh... well... I don't think this set is soooo bad. There are worse. When I was younger, I really liked this set. I don't think I'd bash it quite so hard, although it is certainly a bit of a mess. Probally a 4/10 for me.

This set caused my rather insignificant dark age. In college I would still buy a few sets here and there. One day I stopped in at Toys R Us to pick a lego set and this is the first thing I saw. I didn't buy another set for about 5 years. I still built with my own collection but I was convinced that Lego was though.

It's a zero for me, but I certainly understand others having a soft spot for sets they grew up with, or provided them with a special piece or figure. I probably have more dragons than I need, and I think there are better sets for getting a dragon, so it wasn't really a factor in my rating.Azaghal wrote:Not even a 1 for the dragon, TTK?

I loved this set. It was one of my first castle sets ever. I do not understand why nearly everyone hates it. I thought it was excellent, the witches head and hat are nice, the dragons not too shabby either.

Ah, halloween colours. How appropriate that this thread and this set are resurrected from the dead. Not much has improved since it was started 4 years ago!
Does the designer of this set still work for Lego? Termination with cause would have been kind.

I actually like the colours of the Fright Knights castles together with the minifig designs I think they stand up quite well.
I never purchased this set even when I saw it heavily discounted. I think it was still common in stores in Sydney around 1999 together with the dragon powered carriage set 6047/6099 Prison Transport. The 6097 Night Lord's Castle moved far more quicky in stores.
I always preferred to pick up other smaller fright knight impulse sets that were good for army building like 6004 Crossbow Cart.
You could get a better willa set with a cat and fireplace, 2872 Witch’s Fireplace. The feelings I had for a long time in not having a green dragon are now gone as the current undead/castle knights and those of the Vikings dragons are far superior.
In summary a set I had many opportunities to buy at low prices and one I will never regret not buying.

When I was young I was attracted to this set, but, even then I saw that I wouldn't use most of the pieces; I just wanted the ladder rigging as I called it. I really dislike it, but, it isn't that bad; we can look at other things and say worse about them!

Re: ................................
I didn't hate this set when it first came out; my problem was with the faction as a whole. It was good for parts in the least, worth the money. The dark tide wrote:I loved this set. The problem with it, imho, isn't that it's too fantastic, it's that it's badly designed and it doesn't really "imply" anything. I look at this, and all I really see are some Lego bricks, whereas if I look at many of the other Castle sets, I see a cart, or a tower, or whatever.
A dragon drawn skyboat or whatever this is supposed to be is a pretty tall order if one actually wants the thing to look presentable, and this just falls short, way way way short. That would be a difficult project for anybody, and I don't think it's a particularly good idea for an official set.
