Dresdener Frauenkirche by Holger Matthes
Hey all,
This MOC has gotten mentioned in passing in another thead, but definitely deserves a thread of it's own. Holger Matthes presented his amazing Frauenkirche at the rececent 1000SteineLand event. Here is Holger's gallery:
Compare the MOC: to the real church:
Amazing details include the interior dome, some of the ceilings, and great SNOT-work:

This is just too detailed...I can't accurately describe how amazing it is. Both the outside and the inside are so realistic. I might never be able to build at that level of detail, it's just too great. This is incredibly nice.

This is insane... I wish I could build something as good as this. The outer detailing is already eye-popping (for demo, see here- ) but the fact he made a really nice interior just makes it all the more nuts.
Just my thoughts,

Wow dot dot dot dot *ahem* sorry, ..........
That's so detailed. My mom, the anti-legoist of the house was stunned! She actually even encouraged me to take that size a model on! (when I get older). Thanks Holger Matthes ! You ave preformed a miracle today.
This is just too amazing for words.

I ow it to wunztwice for directing me here.
I think the truest testament is that in some of those pictures I cannot tell if it is a picture of the real thing, or of the model!

I too was having trouble distinguishing between pictures of the real building and the model. The detail on this is just astounding! The colours match the real thing and look very nice together. I was wondering about the clock here. Is that an official sticker or print, or do you think it's custom?

I would have to agre with both, I can't really add much, having just this minute regained conciousness and pulled myself back up from the floor, still a little dizzy...Remyth wrote:Can't put it any better than this, ecsept, maybe,TheBohrok wrote:I too was having trouble distinguishing between pictures of the real building and the model. (BTW I beleive that is an actual sticker, but I am not sure where I have seen it, but then again I have been wrong before)

thanks for the nice and friendly feedback at classic-castle.com regarding my Frauenkirche MOC.
Indeed, the clock-sticker is the only non-LEGO part within several kilogramms of LEGO. It is not an offical LEGO sticker - it is selfmade. I just just MS Word to generate the roman numbers I - XII and put them in circular order. The hole in the middle was made with a normal hole puncher. The sticker (printout on normal paper) is glued with a removable paper glue to the disc-piece.
Cheers,
Holger

You have a point but then some of us who were not regular members(visitors) would have missed it. This MOC is truely inspiring.Borka wrote:Yes, it's a nice moc. But picking up a more than a year old thread just to say "wow"?!
/Borka
But then I'm sure that there are 100 more like this buried deep in old posts and I thought that some admins didn't like us "newer" members digging them up. Maybe on a slow post day?

It's not that digging up one old topic is a bad thing, if it is rare. However, when you started doing it alot, digging up multiple old threads a day, like Doc069 is doing, then it gets annoying, because it cloggs up the forum, and new topics, can get lost, and missed. This is especially bad when all you say is something like, "wow, that's a great MOC", or "good job". There is no point to it.Tower of Iron Will wrote:You have a point but then some of us who were not regular members(visitors) would have missed it.
