New movie: Beowulf

Post by Shurtugal »

hey everyone! I saw the trailer on tv and this movie looks awesome. well, awesome movie-wise, but it definitely looks like it takes a lot of artistic license, who knows how close it is to the actual story, but I guess there are variations in many different beowulf stories. well, here's the trailer, which looks amazing.

Parts of it are, and some parts are not. I am not liking it that much. Is there really need for nudity? I think not.

Hmm, a scantilly clad Angelina Jolie in a hack and slash film? What's not to love?

But seriously, I am pretty excited to see this when it comes out.

Looks very similar to 300. Hoping it'll be somewhat better than that.

Nothing like a good hack and slash for the palate. It will be iteresting to see this movie's take on an old classic.

I wouldn't compare it to 300, due to Beowulf's lack of political elements such as an "evil mid-east empire conquering the world".

Besides, this is a remake of the Beowulf tale, rather than a comic book style version of The 300 Spartans.

If its Angelina then, yes, there's quite likely a very good need for it :D

Still, looking at the trailer, can't quite see how well it matches to the legend, or at least the translation I have. Not sure its my cop of tea.

I loved 300, as did every friend I took to the movie (be they North/South American, Asian, or European; male or female), so I'm not convinced it's trash

But this looks like something completely different to me. A bit of battle and a bit of character relationship/etc.

I don't mind if it's not fitting to the original story, I don't hold Hollywood to historical accuracy... I am looking to watch it and enjoy it - which it seems I will do!

Cool!

Can't wait~

I can't see spending a small fortune on CGI only to make the film look... like plastic? Seriously, everything (and everyone) looks like they are covered in gel.

Almost every movie from 14A and up has at least a bit. It sells.

I'm not really that excited, I don't think I will see it in theaters unless it does very well in the box office. Looks like a renting movie to me.

Yes, the fact that it's animated upsets me too. Thanks for answering the question i hadn't asked yet: that it is animated. That is just plain retarded there is no need for it to be animated period, yet partially...

They are ruining movies these days; they have to get back to non-animated movies or i'll be sick!

yeah I agree the, the animation really bugs me. I haven't seen it yet, but I've watched a lot of trailers and previews, and in one they said how the scenes were filmed with real people, and then done over in cgi, so really, the movie could've been real..but no....i dunno...the cgi'ness of it really takes all the real emotion out of the characters...
