BrickFair '08 DC or Brickworld '08 Chicago

Postby Imscifi » Tue Nov 06, 2007 10:26 am

I was just wondering. Looks like there will be 2 conventions within 2 months of each other. Brickworld '08 Chicago or BrickFair '08 DC.

Which one would you want to go?

Chicago, so long as I can fly into Midway and NOT O'Hare. ;)

That said, I actually really like Chicago. It's a fun place to visit, and there's a ton of stuff I didn't get to do the last time I was there.

Who do you want to answer this? I'm happy to skew your results by choosing but unless I win the lottery I am not traveling across the continent to either. I am also sure that most of our non-North American members feel the same way.

I'd go to Chicago, since I've never been there. Been to DC twice...

I don't fly anymore, so my decision is based mostly on location - it's 18 hours to Chicago with a voluntary free layover 6 hours in at a relative's house, or 26 hours to DC with the only stops being ones I pay for.

No brainer on my end.

DC. There are several bonuses to living within an hour and a half of the Capital. :)

If I don't have to, I don't fly (just don't like it). On that premises, if I were you, I'd go to the DC one (I see that you live in Virginia).

As for me, if I were home in NY, I think I would still go to the DC one - Chicago is not a far drive from NY, but you can take the train from NY to DC, which leads to a much more relaxing ride. Instead of driving and watching out for crazy drivers, you can sleep/read/mess around on the computer.

And no parking when you get to either city (I hate finding/paying for parking!)

I'd say DC ~ (If I weren't in Hong Kong :) )

Chicago is within driving distance for me (probably a 5 hour drive).
I have never been to a lego convention or Chicago for that matter, so I just might be attending in 2008!

You should add an option for both fests. I will likely attend both of them.

Good idea, but it will not let me edit the poll part of this post..

I was planning on going to Brickworld this year, but some family plans messed it up. I'm hoping to go to the one in 2008 though. It's only a 3 hour drive from here. :)

I would go to VA since my brother is there (only about an hour and a away) and I have absolutely no reason to go to Chicago. Overall, it's way to $$$ for me to fly/drive from MS to VA, so I'm probably not going to either.

I wanted to go to both, but I could not. Brickworld is for me.

Does anyone know what the prices are for attending both events?
