Microscale Space Floating Rock Vignette

Post by Jake, of the Palace Guard »

This was originally gonna be for Microspacetopia's monthly comp, but it got a bit bigger then expected. So I stuck a basic rocklike thing on the bottom with an engine. And so I ended up with this:

Image

Flying one day along through space
Went a tourist cruiser from another place
We came to pass some floating rocks
Some of these things had structures on top!

Some were big and some were small
From giant to the size of a tennis ball
But one rock stood out from all of its brothers
It had a big engine, unlike all the others.

So zooming near for a closer look
went the tourists in the tourist truck
They saw a tower, all quiet and dumb
And another object: satellite or gun?

They saw a docking bay, but it seemed so quiet
No bustle on the surface, just endless silence
Hailing the station, our captain said:
"Is there anyone there, are are you all dead?"

To this enquiry there was no reply
But from our engines a wail and a cry!
Instant panic ensued, but what could be done?
"We must land at the station", said the captain, glum

And so, unsteadily, the ship descended
It docked with the station, the ramp ascended
But there was no welcome, no greeting host
And the tourists were curious, they wouldn't stay close.

Leaving the ship on an unknown urge
The crowd of tourists began to surge
Into the station, to rooms unknown.
We hoped against hope that they'd return home.

But time passed on and to no avail,
No tourists returned from their recent trail.
And the ship wouldn't start in any case.
So we followed too, and entered the base...

I know the whole "some asteroids are grey" thing, but IMO the rock portion of this needs to be differentiated from the artificial part somehow. Easiest way I can think of is make the rock brown.

Love the poem, though :)

I agree on having different colors for the asteriod and ship. Good little MOC.

Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely!

Despise learning and make everyone pay for your ignorance.

The water that floats a ship is the same that sinks it.

My LEGO figures keep me from being evil, drat!!
