Minotaur *and Pan*

Post by Count Blockula »

Hi! :D

I have no idea if anyone's tried making legs like this before or not. But I was playing around last night, discovered it for myself for the first time, and thought it'd work great on a minotaur. So, here he is! :)

(The hammer is taken directly from the Dwarves Mining set.)

I think these legs would work great on a minifig of Pan, too; so, I'll try making him later today.

UPDATE: Someone told me that a double-sided axe is accurate according to mythology, so I took a couple new pics with him holding one:

Castles are kinda' like big, non-electrical stone spaceships that don't fly. Plus, you can stick your head out the window and breathe, and your eyeballs won't explode.

Not bad - it really captures the non-human shape of the leg in a way that other solutions don't. Is that a Technic half-pin between the 1x1 and the cheese slope?

As always, you rock! That's great for the legs, gives them that just-right "backwards knee" angle -- can't wait to see Pan! And to think I've been reduced to using this in the center of my labyrinth. . . .

Yup, that's exactly what it is. :)

I agree with peterosso, those legs are inspired! They really make the fig stand out (pun intended).

Well done.

This is excellent!

The legs are exactly what they should be. Simple and clean!
Keep up the good work.

Thanks, guys, I'm glad you like him. :)

And, here's my minifig of Pan, using the same technique for the legs:

That is really neat. Very clever idea of using the hands to stabilize the horns. I am also very curious as how the leg is done.

Is that 1x1 mounted on the mini-fig leg? I can't tell from the camera angle.

Yup, just like with the minotaur, the studs of the 1x1 bricks are connected to the lower of the two holes on the backs of the minifig legs. The 1x1x2/3 cheese slopes are then attached to the bottoms of the 1x1 bricks using Technic half pins with studs.

Nice Minotaur! I like the legs, very clever! Now only if LEGO would see this an mass produce them...

The leg are great, but I really like the ears and horns of Pan. What a great use of minfig arms/hands to hold it all together. Over all a great representation of Pan. The Minotaur is great, too. Nice job.
