10,000 B.C. (movie)

Post by JPinoy »

The movie has a rather StarGate vibe to it, added with a "Scorpion King" or "Conan The Barbarian" messianic-warrior type hero. It also has some elements from Apocalypto (city-building civilization -vs- tribal community).

Nothing accurate about it, but it looks like a fun movie anyway.

I agree, it looks like a fun movie!
I wouldn't be so sure about the accuracy part.
Having gone through many college history courses, I've found that human history is much more complex and mysterious than what most people think.

actually alot of the history community is promoting this movie as an almost accurate depiction of life back then, but then again its only our beliefs of what happened, that period of time is still a mystery to mankind.

No kidding, it isn't accurate at all

It isn't accurate, but 10,000 BC legos would've been really cool! With all of those pyramids and "bone huts", they would've been awesome! Ah well...

Yeah, along with those mammoths and saber-tooths. Too bad lego didn't have that as a license

I thought the movie was decent. It was worth watching. It was accurate, but the farther and farther it went in, the less and less accurate it got. mammoths helping build Egyptian pyramids? The pyramids weren't built until about 2000 B.C.

The movie stems from the idea of Atlanteans being in Egypt or at least influencing early (historical) civilizations such as Egypt.

Such as how the placement of the pyramids and the sphynx were astrologically influenced. With the pyramids in a formation similar to that of Orion's belt and the sphynx being originally a Lion to represent the Leo constellation. 10,000 years ago the sun rose IN the Leo constellation, thus the "Age of Leo". We are currently in the Age of Picses.

Also, some have suggested that by looking at the erosion on the Sphynx, that it is MUCH older than the presumed date of around 3000BC to 2000BC.

Interesting. Although they don't know for sure if Atlantis is real, do they? If the Sphinx is older than thought, could it be as old as 10,000 B.C.?

No, it's not certain that Atlantis is real. Atlantis is only mentioned in one of Plato's scripts.

Anyhow, there are still many research groups that are searching for Atlantis. Some say the Canary Islands is Atlantis and some say Cyprus is. Still unclear.
