Opinions on Crown Knights
Welcome!
The Crown Knight theme also shocked me out of my dark age.
I also love the skeletons and orcs and trolls and dwarves.
The color schemes and faces and weapons and buildings are all superb.
I feel that unlike the Fright Knights or KK, the new Castle line is a clear throwback to the Castle of the 80's and 90's, and it's just the best ever and I can't get enough of it I have two catapaults two crossbow attack, the Skeleton Carriage, 1x of each Battle Pack, 2x Skeleton Tower and the Dwarves Mine. Not sure that I'll be able to afford the King's Castle Siege or Skeleton Ship Attack but I can dream, right?
I'm gonna be posting some Skeleton MOC's soon too, I feel they are an underused faction and wait til you see my Necromancer's Focal Tower and Skeleton's Mine!!
You see, the "gray" faction here is the Orcs - they have their own banner and are in league with the Necromancer simply because he pays them well as mercs. They have come from across the sea to seek wealth and warfare, and in the Necromancers bid for dominion over the Crown Knight's land he has build his own mines with shipments of gold brought out on the backs of Skeletal horses and used to pay for the Orc mercenaries to augment his own undead and dragons.
The Crown Knights won't give up without a fight, and have enlisted their ancient allies the Dwarves to smith the finest weapons and armor in the land for an excellent advantage against the invading hordes... it has become a struggle though with the brutal orcs, and they seek help from the ancient elves... if they will get involved to save not only the humans and dwarves, but all of LEGOLAND™!

crownies are well designed. a nice modern twist to a classic theme.
i like the classic factions: black falcons, forestmen, crusaders, black knights. i also find dragon knights to be interesting. it went downhill from the royal knights, fright knights (aka the batlords), etc. the color schemes were an eyesore and became worse with KK I. the good thing out of KK I would be the kettle helmets and the minifig heads. those are good. the heraldries were just horrible.
imo, crownies are a continuation of the old heraldries but with a modern twists. it has more metallics and the use of dark blue blends in well. the older factions just had blue, red, black, grey, etc i.e. the basic colors to work with.
i started collection the classic castles: would be nice to have a faction vs faction battle...
yeah...humans are warmongers.

Get the Dwarves mine.. comes with a party of Dwarves and orcs.. great buildings pieces... a kitchen and blacksmith.... true modern day lego masterpiece. IT's the next Guarded Inn/Blacksmith.Voran_the_Scholar wrote:I am happy to say that I do not own a single crown knight. Not as a slam on them...in case any of them read this, but that I have not yet succumbed to buying new factions when I could work on expanding my old ones. Besides, the Dwarves and Orcs are way cooler already. So, no CK for me.

I think crown knights and all kingdom of Ankoria is bad line, because there is only one faction of human. I have a better idea for new line - Crownies were the union of lion knights and black falcons. But two sond of the king made the civil war - return of the war Lion knights versus BF. An next serie may be revolution of dragon knights, hmm??

I enjoy how the dwarves are affiliated with the CK. In my Lego-verse the skeletons are weak to blunt weapons and axes so the dwarves have the best advantage over them. I also enjoy how Lego added orcs as a faction. The way Rocko has outfitted them in several of his mocs makes them look filled out. He adds a lot of depth to them archers with hoods, viking helmets look great on them. One thing I don't like about the orces is the new armor lego gave them. Looks to much like space orcs for me now.
Yeah they do kind of remind ya of the Otopian armour don't they? I mean the ones from the 2007 UFO series.raginalbino wrote:One thing I don't like about the orces is the new armor lego gave them. Looks to much like space orcs for me now.
Between plotting to kill you all and chasing balls of yarn, I also build MOCs

Yes, but only if the posts and comments are of sufficiently high quality and not just posts for the mere sake of posting. Please don't crap up the forum with silly posts (not saying that this one is such). I think you change from GF at 10 posts, if, of course, you behave.crownknightfan wrote:Oh PS do you need to post alot of comments and stuff to get upgraded from Gong Farmer?

Personally, I like the design of the CK's. The color scheme is nice and they look quite regal. The heraldry is also nice, simple and elegant (though I do miss the old classic animals).
The only thing I don't like is how the torsos are so detailed that they don't really fit with my old classic-castle factions. But times change.

Yes, but it was special edition and got sold out. Lego is supposedly re-releasing it this year.crownknightfan wrote:Pardon me but if I am correct the Dwarven Mines came out quite a while ago???? Heh...oh the joys of being color blind...when I first saw the Castle stuff, I thought it was purple and pink. My assessment was quickly corrected by a less-impaired individual.Athos wrote:Personally, I like the design of the CK's. The color scheme is nice and they look quite regal. A little cross-genre appeal, huh?raginalbino wrote:One thing I don't like about the orces is the new armor lego gave them. Looks to much like space orcs for me now.

i like the new knights line because...
they fight orks and skeletons which before they came out that was what my castle was fighting so they fit right in
i use them as armored elves. they match the elven idea that elves are shiny and elagent
they look cool and i can't afford to buy old castle sets off e-bay
as ratings i give them 9/10
i would be 10/10 but they are blue not red
