Media Watch: the Geekiest Lego
Media Watch: the Geekiest Lego

This article exemplifies just about all the annoyances associated with non-LEGO-media coverage of LEGO topics. In particular, many of the creations are uncredited and there are very few links to builders' websites. Not to mention the fact that they parsed "mryoder" as "M. Ryoder" (I'm not sure myself whether it's supposed to be "Mr. Yoder" or "M. R. Yoder" but I know they got it wrong) and their bizarre, unfounded claim that Misterzumbi's Predator bust is made with non-LEGO blocks and is a PC case mod (?). And, of course, the inclusion of the AT-AT set with all these fan creations.

I agree with Sibley. I also am annoyed at the several statements of LEGO builders as geeks. I hate when people do that! !

Excellent creations, but I was annoyed at the 'geekiest' tag - so they have all this creativity and hard work before them, and the only description they can come up with is geeky? Well then, I'm sure we should be doing more 'normal' things with our lives, like getting drunk and stuffing ourselves with fast food and watching television non stop

Amen. For years now, I've considered 'Geek' a compliment.Aragornn45 wrote:Artists are always ridiculed by the uncultured masses.Sir Kohran wrote:Excellent creations, but I was annoyed at the 'geekiest' tag - so they have all this creativity and hard work before them, and the only description they can come up with is geeky? Embrace the geek. Seriously.
I found that via Mental Floss, and sent it out to my co-workers with proper credit. They thought the creations were pretty neat.
They put up with a lot of stuff from me.

Also, they're seem to be at least a few proper linkbacks, and I see no mention of "M Ryoder".
Also, I note that, in the comments, someone brought up the ubiquitous aircraft carrier...

Geek, as defined by merriam-webster's dictionary:
a carnival performer often billed as a wild man whose act usually includes biting the head off a live chicken or snake.

And some people thought being a "geek" was lame.
