Let me introduce myself...

Post by kibosh »

A little about myself:

I'm a father of two in my late 30's. LOVED Lego as a child, and entered my first Dark Age around 1981-1982. I played primarily with Space, and I packed up my Lego before Castle really came out in the US.

I came out of my 1st DA around 1997-1998 when the popularity of Star Wars resurged. I had stumbled upon some images online of amazing SW custom minifigs, and I started dabbling in buying some new sets. For the next 4-5 years, I bought everything in sight, and was a clearance machine. I scooped up all the low price Lego I could. I wanted to build the huge castles and cities I never could as a kid.

I entered a second Dark Age around 2004-2005, and basically dropped out of Lego. No buying, no selling, no Lugnet, no Brickshelf. I just lost interest.

My son just turned 6, and got a nice SW Lego haul for his birthday. I've been having a BLAST watching him build the models (he's very good), and then building his own creations. This has led me out of my 2nd, and hopefully last, DA!

I look forward to being able to contribute as soon as I get my collection organized!

Welcome to Classic-Castle!

I love Space probably more back 2 years ago, but since, I have split the two in half doing both. Their both great themes space and castle, and the really fundamental themes for many subthemes (Floating Rocks, etc...).

Hope when you son turns 13, he will join Classic-Castle. He will probably have much better technology. Who knows what type of stuff there will be 6 years from now.

Welcome! Heh...when you say you want to build all the cities you never could as a child, I sit back and envy your spending power...
May the blessing of the Lord be upon you. <><

Hey,

Welcome to CC. We've got pretty similar early histories. My early LEGO days were all about red and white spacemen as well. You'll have a lot of fun building with your sons. I'm looking forward to building with my daughter as well, when we get beyond the "everything is a choking hazard" stage.

I buy LEGO, I play with LEGO, therefore LEGO are not for children, they are for me!
