Weekly Set Review: Knight's Kingdom Chess Set
Apart from having no use for an army of baby blue soldiers, this set also has the worst rooks of all chess sets, and the fact that it's glued just ruins it for me. I know this was the first one, and it paved the way for the upcoming super chess set, so that makes up for it, but still.
Between plotting to kill you all and chasing balls of yarn, I also build MOCs

I thought this set was wimpy compaired to the others but then again it was the first so you can't blame them. I do like the shadow knights though. I also wish they didn't glue the baseplate together

Unfortunately no, it doesn’t. This kind of glue literally melts the pieces together. You cannot loosen them without destroying them.Heir of Black Falcon wrote:speaking of baseplates that have been glued.... does hot water weaken the glue? I have thought perhaps it worth trying to loosen them.

Re: Weekly Set Review: Knight's Kingdom Chess Set
Well I realy don't like it.architect wrote:Join the weekly Classic Castle set review discussion. Please post your opinions on the set play ability, piece selection, design, etc. Which sets stand up to our catapult of critique and which ones crumble in shame!
This week’s set is G678 Knight's Kingdom Chess Set.
Knight's Kingdom Chess Set was released in 2005 for Knight's Kingdom II. This game has 32 chess pieces and 24 armed minifigures, the most for any castle set. Figures exclusive to this set include the rooks, knights, and good and evil queens.
There are atleast three board variations of this set. The first production run had versions with 4x4 black and white plates glued to a white 32x32 baseplate. Some versions were only partially glued or not glued at all. While making the second production run, LEGO had a shortage of 4x4 plates. Four 2x2 white plates were substituted for each white 4x4 plate. Two 2x4 black plates were substituted for each 4x4 black plate.
There are only a few good tings about it, the gry cloaks and the gray hair on the good side.'
and the whole army on the bad side would be a good army building tool.
2/10

I thought the "Black" Queen was a bold step up for LEGO at the time. She looks thoroughly evil. What most of us, myself included, did not know was that this was a little hint of the future, ie Skeleton faction. I bought this mainly as an army builder, but the baby blue imposes a challenge.

You know, as far as baby blue goes, I think LEGO was thinking about using other colors at some point. I think this is where the purple bullet helms and green flared helms originated.
This set kind of ruined the rest of the chess sets for me. I don't know why. I just got disillusioned with the whole thing.
Until they came out with the really BIG one that they are demanding rediculous prices for...

In my opinion a very weak chess set. There is a small positive note and thats the scorpion soldiers.
One more hypothetic question. Here you see a close-up of the "blue"-side troops...

How would this set increase in your value if more proper colour schematics where used (like the current color settings with dark blue, shiny silver armor and brown crossbows)??

Yeah, I can imagine Knight's Kingdom was a dark day for LEGO casle lovers. I don't really remeber it as I was only around 10, but I bet it still pretty stunk. :!:

I would say Vladek and the Shadow knights were probably the most realistic in the theme.
