Yoda Minifig Prices

Post by Blue Head »

I was looking up the prices for a yoda mini figure on Bricklink, just to see whether or not I could afford one or not; more out of curiosity than anything else, and I found the cheapest you could buy a yoda was $19.25, and that's with a bent ear :?! The most expensive was on page three, at a massive $49.99 ! How did these minfigs get so expensive? I mean, they were in one of the cheapest sets in the Star Wars line, the one with count Duku and yoda fighting in a dual.

Here's the link to the minifig selection at the current moment:BrickLink: Yoda

I myself was experiencing some jaw-dropping today while browsing the prices of some things on Bricklink.

In one store, a standard white skellie with a helmet was 10 cents cheaper than the same exact skellie without a helmet. :|

I think I'll hang on to my Yoda for a while, see if the price goes up.

Now that's what I call a deal on a helm. :)

I've noticed an interesting phenomenon myself. I'll browse a store and think, "Wait...they're selling two of the exact same thing!" It's not a difference of new vs used. I think what people might be after is actively limiting the quantity someone can buy at any price.

As far as Yoda goes:  The lowest USA price, outside the bent-eared one, is $28.00!!!! I am going to take definite care of my Yoda fig now...

EDIT: It makes me wonder how much they're going for on e-bay...heh...just about the same price. Hmm....

That's what I'm going to do; maybe sell it for a good price. I wish I had bought more, though, now that I can see their pros. :|

The unfortunate part about the SW minifigs is that they appeal to both the Lego fans and the SW fans. Therefore, they become collectibles on two fronts.

I have talked to toy collectors that have no interest in building with Lego, but they have a fair collection of the SW minifigs - solely because they are SW.

Heck, I just purchased two of the Ninja - Princess, White and one of the Ninja - Green Princess minifigs for less than the cost of one Jango Fett.

I actually took my son's Jango Fett (and many other of his rare SW minifigs) away and replaced them with more available ones - I figured he would hate me when he was older if I let him possibly wreck them now.

I find this an abomination!!!! I almost typed it as obamanation... hmm... maybe... Off the subject of politics, I do find this evil and preposterous. Everything I find is cheap, so I've got nothing to show you guys, but I do have a question: "How do you put the link as a word in the middle of your sentence?"
Woe is me, woe is me, I used to have a hamster tree. Then it got eaten by a newt and now I have no cuddly fruit.

your word here]

I have very little Star Wars minifigs as it is, but I must admit, if there's a high price as silly as that i'd part with them in an instant. Prices can only get more expensive, right?

Of course, once LEGO releases another Yoda (bound to happen), the prices will plumit. I love the Star Wars LEGO series but no minifig is worth $20+ (IMO). The fact that Star Wars is so collectable really hurts the line. Then again, having some old SW LEGO sets MISB probably could make you a pretty penny.

The cost on that hairpiece is because it was in one set 30+ years ago, so is extremely rare (oh, and a couple of Dacta sets from 25+ years ago, but those are really obscure).
The Yoda thing is pretty amazing. Very tempting to start clearing out my SW stuff.
