Two sailing ships

Post by Elephant Knight »

Hello CCers,

A while back (A week or so) I made these ships and a conversation last night on Chat made me want to post them now instead of later. Normally I post creations when I break them, but I decided to post them now instead.

These are my first two real attempts at making sailing ships that look half decent. The only other ones I have built (and taken pics of) can be found HERE and HERE.

Enough ranting, here are the creations:

The first one,

The HMS Dauntless!

Birds eye view

The crew

The folder (already modded)

The second:

The Sea Devil!

Side View

Her crew

Arrrr! It be the folder!

Oh, and here is my purist spy glass (telescope) idea:

Image

And how to make one yourself

Comments and critisicm are welcome and wanted.

I like the Dauntless a lot. I've never seen that hull used so well. Great job!

I'm not as impressed with the Sea Devil. The green in the back and grey in the front throws it off for me.

I kind of have no choice in using those, for those are my only hull peices like that. I lost the front one from the Cross Bone Clipper (don't ask how, I have no idea!) and when I discovered Bricklink, I foolishly ordered a brown one cause it was cheaper. Wouldn't have made a difference any ways, for the minimum buy at the store was the same as the price of the green hull piece. Though I found a few pieces that cam in handy, one of which is the big flag on the Dauntless.

Yay! I'm glad I made you post them faster! :P

I have to admit, I had some doubts about how that hull piece you used on the HMS Dauntless would look on a sailing ship like, but man, it looks awesome!

I like the Sea Devil, too. For not having access to the matching hulls, I think you pulled it off very nicely.

..The crew shots are great, too!

I really like the HMS Dauntless, it brings back the memories of a classical Pirate set. Here's to a smooth sailing, har har!

With all this talk about new Pirates, (And with the impending doom of some of them) I decided to take pictures of my updated ships.

The Dauntless:

Birds eye view.

The deck and some square Canons.

The inspiration picture.

It's a long way down.

The folder, Sir.

The Sea Devil:

Parrots eye view.

Don't move, or we shoot!

Poor Timmy.

Arrr, It be the folder!

And a new one, the Iron Fist:

Birds view.

Heheheheheh...

Me and me crew.

Arr, the folder for ye landlubbers!

Hope you like them.

Comments and critism are good if they are pointed at the Dauntless. The other two are going to be broken.

I like the Sea Devil a bit more than the Dauntless despite the green in the back (I understand that lack of these parts here - big problem sometimes with ships!).

The Sea Devil just has an old ship feeling to it for me - the Dauntless, while very well built, for some reason reminds me more of a metal ship - I know this isn't logical due to the sales and etc, but just the feeling I get.

The Iron Fist looks interesting and pretty cool - what was the thinking behind this one?

Two words: Star wars. I've been reading a lot of it lately, but not that particular series, odd enough. And the fact that it is the same color as the TIE fighter sets. Though that was actyually coinicdece.
