Custom Oblivion Decals

Post by Roaglaan »

Ive been playing around with the oblivion texture files and created these, they probably have too much detail but I plan on refining them.

These are some superb customs, Roaglaan!

However, I personally think that they are slightly too realistic to be used commonly with LEGO. A few figs would look grand sporting these, but they look almost too good to be LEGO-ish.

Again, I'm not saying that they are not good, but just simply too good for common use with LEGO (IMO).

Well... here's a shot of what one of your decals look like when put with a minifig. The decals are a little over exaggerated with detail, but for a first showing decal, I think that's, because I think you can always set back from detail a little bit if your too good . Lovin' the look. I love the blade shield. :D

Make more :!:

(Photo sucks, but it looks pretty good up close. :D

After seeing the minifig, I agree with the three of you. They have way to much detail and dont have that Lego look. It just makes me want to do them so they can be used. Keep looking for more from me and thanks alot for the comments.

Using texture files from Morrowind or Oblivion....... That might be one of the best ideas I've ever heard.

I think Morrowind might look better, since they are less detailed, and have a bit lower resolution, and wouldn't be so over the top.

As most people have said, they're a little too detailed. I didn't want to let this stuff go to waste, so I tried lego-izing some of them, to see how they looked.
Here's what I did:

They look a little rough, but that's the way just about everything in oblivion looks. The "Blades" one was too elaborate for me, but I did the rest of the shields. hope you like them. Credit for originals, of course, goes to Roaglaan.

Hmm, I actually like the shields better with the detailed versions, although the torso's may look better with less detail. Either way, it's still a great idea.

I think the seconds ones go along better with lego but thats just my two cents.

Thanks for sharing.

Add some fur, erase the heraldry and the leather one would be great for warg riders.

The first set of shields look very nice. I agree that with the others that they look "too good." They show your skill quite well.

The second "more LEGO" shields look good as well. Nice job!

In all honesty, I'm not that good. The first set of images were taken from The elder scrolls oblivion game. The second set I did mostly myself, the red shield has an image I got from a wolfpack shield. I'm having fun doing this so I'll keep going. :D

Great job! I think the first "too detailed" shields look just quite fine and I love the torsos. Not too crazy about the second batch though. I would love to see a perfect madness armor set and the rest of the perfect amber. Again I say, great job  !
