Gargoyle Piece..?

I was just over at Brickshelf viewing a small gallery (Just three images) of LEGO Universe Concept art. One of said images is of some sort of Castle-themed bowling alley. Which in it's own is pretty interesting.
But what really seemed to catch my eye were the Gargoyle type sculptures above, lining the alley. It reminds me in a sense of the LEGO lion pieces that came out in the KK1 series (Which I just love in light bley.. need to pick me up some of them!).

Personally, I think such a piece would be a nice addition in Castle building. What are your thoughts?

I would love a gargoyle piece, or even more than one. However, I also love to see it when people use either the lion head in a creative way or use basic pieces to make their own gargoyles.

Yes so long as they are smaller then the lion and smaller then/equal to a minifig.

What about the baby dragon piece? to me it looks like a gargoyle.

Hey,

I'm more into creative solutions using existing parts. Like Jokkna said, the baby dragon is good, and was used in a similar way in the HP Graveyard Duel set. LEGO also made gargoyles from fairly basic bricks in the Royal Knights Castle. I've seen the hawk/parrot piece used as a gargoyle in MOCs. Of course Micah has done some great things using pieces creatively, like his gargoyle. Doing a quick Brickshelf search, here's a great one by Quickblade:

As much as I agree with Bruce, I had to vote yes on this. Brick-built pieces don't solve everything. Try building a lion's head in the same amount of space as the lion's head piece.

Don't get me wrong, I also love it when people can come up with ways of using what is available to create things like this. That is the beauty of LEGO after all; you can really build anything you think up with a good bit of creativity.

After reading Thomas' comment, I searched Gargoyles on Brickshelf, and found Quickblade's excellent version of a brick-built Gargoyle. I think it was the first I've seen before, actually.

That being said, I still do think that some things are pulled off better (Or at least are as good as brick-builts) when done as pre-fabs. Like the Lion statue; it would be difficult to create something so small, and detailed as that, and still be able to pass it off for a lion. I saw the light bley Lion piece in a castle a few days ago.. But I can seem to find the folder for an example..

Yes, I think if it were in proportions to a minifig that would be good. Nothing too bulky.

It looks like I am the lone No vote at this point. While I am in favor of new castle pieces, brick built solutions for architectural elements often work just as well. I would much rather see a pointed arch, 3x3 inverse 33 degree corner slope, inverted 2x2x3 corner slope, etc. Pieces such as these would be more useful in many mocs.

Gargoyles would be nice. Maybe something a little more traditional looking... but I figure that could be hashed out in the development phase.

Hey thanks Bruce for mentioning my gargoyle. I can't vote on this one. A pre-fab gargoyle would be cool, but I'm just as happy with using a brick built one by......ME!

It could use a little updating though.
