Service Outage

Post by Troy »

My appologies for the extended service outage that we experienced yesterday. After much "discussion" with a less then helpful tech support staff at our hosting company, I believe we may have solved the problem.

In the end, it was determined to be a hardware problem. We have been switched to a new server chassis (moving the hard drive over) and all APPEARS to be running well.

Yes... I think I was on yesterday (or it may be some wild dream) and the site looked completely different, it was very strange.

I managed to get on yesterday in the morning, but when I tried again at lunch time, and subsequently throughout the day, I had no success. I was quite ticked at my server (thinking the problem was on my end). Thanks for getting it back online. :D

All I could think was ....Where is classic-castle? Why can't I get on to classic-castle? Is it gone? Thank God, I can stop taking my prozac now. Just a scare, just a scare! Glad to have you back. :)

I do sincerely believe I'm going slightly mad. Perhaps it was a strange dream- I do recall yellow dancing daffodils.

I wonder if your 'discussion' was similar to this phone call ...

Customer: My modem isn't working. I've re-installed, re-booted, re-plugged in... the power light is on, but it won't connect to the internet.

Tech Support: Okay, first thing is to send an email to our tech department detailing the problems you're having...

Customer: Email??

Tech Support: Yes, email.

Customer: Send an email to tech support saying that my modem doesn't connect online and that my email doesn't work???

Tech Support: Yes, that's correct.

And in case you're wondering, the Customer was my boss. He tells it much better than I can.

Mine was more along the lines of:

"Your server won't boot. We don't know why. For $75/hour we can fix it."

Now call me cynical, but why would I pay $75/hour to someone to fix something when they don't even know what the problem is...

Well, it was over a week ago, so maybe that's why you missed it ;)
