Hopefully if it is real it will mean some cool new torsos and minifig accessories. Otherwise, I'm so over pirate themed anything, though. After those movies and all the other pirate trends(pirate bands, pirate restaurants, etc.), I'd be happy never seeing pirate anything ever again.

Oh, those look so good. Like the old rivals Imperial Guards and Pirates classic. Like the old ones with modern updated printing and heads. I sincerely hope they do some fantastic ship designs. I do not want to see a Durmstrang Ship meets Viking Ship design, some good old 18th century designs and no "Action Features" this time please!

I'm curious why these are intentionally blurred. If the photographer* was under a non-discloser agreement, then he shouldn't have been able to release the photos at all. And if he wasn't under one, then why blur them?

*is the photographer Sir Nadroj, or someone else?

Having said that, I'm all for a new pirates line. Pirates was one of my absolute favorite lines as a kid.

If they are releasing a line now, that's awesome, but they did kind of miss the boat(no pun intended) what with the recent pirate movies and all...

I doubt it's intentional at all. The fisheye/blurriness looks like it's from an enlarged shot off a cell phone's camera.

Personally, I'm skeptical any new line could live up to the old Pirates sets-- call it nostalgia or purely from a design standpoint, but I'm not holding my breath. If this is true, I am very much looking forward to seeing what the new line would be about, however.

That being said, I do think "missing the boat" is a good thing, actually. Simply jumping on what's popular at the time isn't the way to go. Give the line time to be designed properly and released when there isn't a lot of other pirate competition instead of being thrown into a market saturated with piratephernalia. It'll be able to have its own identity instead of just playing off of a movie or something. I'd say that's a good thing.

Hmm, you could be right, that it's just a cell-phone pic. The blur looked alot like a photoshop filter though, and Sir Nadroj has 12mp camera. Perhaps he didn't have it with him that day.

Ah, you were right: cell phone. How come first pictures are always blurry, even if they're from a good photographer? :P

Also, he says he has good photos from his camera that he'll upload on the 12th when he gets back from vacation.

Wow.... I would love some new pirate stuff. I always modified them to be part of my castle stuff but they added a lot of character, designs, colors, cool minifigs and parts so it cannot be a bad thing if they rerelease the line. I was surprised when they dropped the line as it had seemed so popular.

I already like the new Guard torso better than the old ones--simply because it's printed on a red torso rather than a white one. Why were they ever white?

Some more confirmation:

The manager said they came from Enfield, CT, so again, these are official.

When he emails me, I'll let you know.

This is certainly wonderful news, I was a little worried about having fleshies after seeing the second picture.
