Cool set. Like the fact that it has a wagoned horse and has a saddle still. ANd then there is the chest.

It okay. Except for the chest their wouldn't be any reason tobuy this set. It would make good army-filler if you were collecting Black Falcons. Instant Cavalry! I'd have to give it 8/10.

If you would find it now it would be great, but back then you couldn't do much with it, could you?
A soldier with a spear and a horse is all you get out of it, if these things where cheap and if you could take several of them with you it would be good because you could get a horse and a soldier at the same time, the chest is also good if you want to make a treasure room in your castle.

I have to agree with the others here that this is a great army builder. The horse plus saddle is a great touch for cavalry, and with a Black Falcon you can't go wrong!

Also the gray chest might add to the collectability, but overall it is a good small set.

This and the blacksmith shop (6040) are the two sets that have eluded me... both with their blasted special colored pieces... :cry:

I haven't been able to get this set yet. I really want some, but they are hard to find for a decent price. I would give it a 10/10 for, well, everything!

I really like this set, with the eception of the chest. The light gray doesn't appeal to me. I would rather it be a more realistic brown. Aside from that however, it is great.

It's the small sets like these that make me wish I was alive when they were released. When I was younger, my older brother loved pirates, and got lots of the small sets. If he were into castle at that time, he would have bought lots of sets like these. I love these small sets because you get a minifig and some good accessories and small pieces for not much money, and you can add it to your castle or town easily.

This certain set is desirable to me for the chest, but overall it is fairly simple. I'll give it a 7/10 for now, and 7/10 for then.

I like this set. It's a cheap way to build a cavalry, and the rare chest is a bonus besides. The cart pieces are so-so, but you've got to have something to haul the chest around in, I guess. Why don't we get good army builders anymore? 8/10.

I liked this set (though obviously the chest elevates it). The simplicity and way you could put 10 in a layout without noticing it is a nice feature. As others have said the off centre saddle and one guard per chest ratio have always bothered me...

I love the Falcons, defiantely my favorite faction. Add to that the fancy treasure chest and the horse and buggy and this is an awesome set. I would expect to pay $15- $20 for a set like that today. Very cool. -Pac

I've always liked this set. Unfortunately I was not quite old enough to get it.

To me, the small castle sets were the best. I could purchase them with my few hard-earned bucks and eventually build up an army, as well as have a lot of carts and stuff for civilians and army alike.

I finally got ahold of this last winter and I love it. It's simple and yet complex enough to warrant a purchase, especially for the original price.

I don't want to get all sentimental and then rip on TLC, but I really do miss these smaller, and simple theme sets. Both my first castle and pirate sets were in the <$5 range, and I have oodles of the small sets from alot of the themes.

I was inspired by that set and I made a nice simple cart. It has a horse that carries the cart(and the horse holds a basket- the kind that a fig wears on its back- and a sword. The cart holds a shield, spear, driver, treasure chest, saddle(blue for the Black Falcons), and a barrel full of hay(by hay I mean 3 yellow 1x1 studs :lol:

). I think that is definately my favorite MOC even with its simplicity. I need to buy me that set and compare the two side by side... -Pac
