Bills to pay, so with LEGO I can then play. Priorities!

USA, yep.

Just got mine today.
It's a very cool set. I was surprised that the black and white tiles are already pined to the main baseplate. Fortunately they are *not* glued to my great relief. For a moment I thought they where when I opened the set.

I'll post pics once I put it together.

Cheers!

Just finished building it and I'm hoping someone else has run into the same issue I had and solved it:

Once the chess set is built, there are instructions to store it in its box.
Now, the instructions seem to look like part of the base of the internal box (the one that holds the piece racks) has been cut off, otherwise I don't see how the set and all the pieces can fit back inside.

If you've built it you'll see what I mean.
So, how the heck is the re-storage of the set in the original box suposed to work?
I think cutting will be the only option...
Hoping for some answers before I call lego directly :)

Cheers!

Well, an inventory has been posted on bricklink, here, and this set looks awesome! It has an incredible selection of parts. I was looking through it and found some pieces that I thought were a little odd to put in it. One, there is a pair of light bley handcuffs, there are four 1x3 bricks that are each a different color, green, white, blue, and yellow. Only one of each. What? There's one of these pieces. (I think someone anticipated our discussion about separating tiles from baseplates), a total of 35 extra pieces, a nice selection of trans-orange, an maybe the best of all: 11 orc shields. Since there are only 8 orcs in the set itself, that allows for some impulse buying...hmm.... Oh yeah, there's a dark bley star wars blaster (old kind). What's up with that?

Well, here I am critiquing a set I don't have yet. ELMAS can probably tell your more about it than I can. :)

God bless.

Hey Voran!
Actually I can say I am extremely pleased with this set.
Indeed it comes with the 4006 piece so maybe TLC was actually thinking we may need is which is nice.

The 4 seeminglinky random colored bricks are really just reference points that you put on the baseplate to make it easier to follow the instructions. Each corner has a different color "code" so you can turn the baseplate to the correct side, depending on which area you are working on.
The abundance of shields, dwarves, whitch, wizards etc, makes this set worth every penny. It was a fun build and it is also easy to actually play chess on it.
My wife an I played our first match over the weekend and She loved it.

My only "complaint" so far, if I can even call it complaint, is the fact that the I have not been able to figure out how to store the board inside along with the chess pieces as the instructions intend without having to resort to a cutter. I havent butchered the box to make things fit (yet).

Overall, very nice set.
Some rare peices, rare minifgs, fun build, lots of shields, weapons.
The evil wizard includes the black lightsaber hilt.
Can't complain.
Oh, and the handcufs are used for the skeleton that stands in the side of the Dungeon on the skeleton corner. And the blaster is used to hold the oval crown shield that sits on one of the corners. It's not really visible.

I am very pleased with it despite the price.

Well, I just got this in the mail. I was completely shocked by the size of the box. It was absolutely enormous! Unfortunately I am not able to put it together right now because my family is about to drive home from my grandparent's house where we have been staying.

Once you build it, let me know if you figure out a way to store it back in the box (assembled) :)

When you open the box, the minifigs are already pre-assembled. The evil wizard has in the right hand the staff with the black hilt and on the left, the fire piece.
I don't think it was a mistake, but I can confirm my set has the black one.

Ahha, thank you. So it is very similar to the one from the little chess:

I must see the new one in real to decide, which one looks better.

Are you kidding? There's nearly no way a lego chess set could look better than the big one.Btw., where did you get that already? I thought it doesn't come out before september

Metalandi,

There are quite a few people on the board that have it already. From what I gather they bought it from Lego directly.
