Clone Wars sets are in!

Post by Hob Took »

Linky!
7 new Clone Wars sets are up at SAH today!

MagnaGuard Starfighter
V-19 Torrent
AT-TE Walker
Republic Attack Gunship
Droid Gunship
The Twilight
Sepratist Spider Droid

I'm not really digging the figs, but The sets look pretty cool for anyone who doesn't already have previous versions of the walker or republic gunship. LEGO seems to have gotten the "cartoony" look in the sets that's in the upcoming movie. There are a couple interesting pieces though, such as the different accessories on the different clone troops such as the belt in the lower picture and the baby green hutt thing that undoubtedly someone will find a comical use for.

Sadly though, LEGO has yet again only made vehicles in these new sets. Star Wars is full of crazy alien worlds, but I guess kids only want vehicles to crash into each other. You may not get get a bunch out of these sets unless you are a SW fan, and the interesting and exclusive (for now) pieces will wrangle their way onto BLink and eBay soon enough, but you may want to check them out.

EDIT: I just found out that some of the clones have holes on the sides of their helmets for visors/antennas. These holes also fit plumes. What would it be like to have a knight with an antenna on his helmet?

Went to TRU today. Saw all those sets. Though tempted, SG and I picked up the Agents limited edition Volcano Base mission 8. Had a coupon for 20% off.

Batman is also 20% off at TRU now. So time to grab that harlequin or joker ice cream truck sets if you were thinking about it (those are some decent sets!).

They were at my TRU too, strangely I am not overly impressed with them. Mostly because of the price, but I don't like the figs.

Picked up a the republic gunship and the tank at target a couple days ago. I like them, but for the price I really wish they would've included a few more clones. Seeing as how I'm not a huge fan of the new movie, just wanted the two models I didn't get the first time around, I put up the figs for sale. I know, way expensive, but I might get lucky and if they do sell it'll help offset the cost of the set.

Link to my store in sig.

Anyone tried sticking a pharoah hat on a guy with the new neckgear? I'd like to see how/if it worked.

Which new neckgear do you mean? I could try it out for you. If you mean this:

If so I can tell you the two don't fit together, not even close. If its something else and I have it I'd be happy to try, and take pics if you want.

Well I bought the At-Te, Federation Spider Droid TRU set and the Magna Guard Fighter at the TRU midnight sale.

Haven't had time to put the last two together, but I did do the At-Te. Overall it is very similar to the first edition of this set; some modifications make it (I think) connect and lift from the center into the cargo section of the Gunship? I'll have to see about this when I do finally get the Gunship because it's not shown on the box or in the instructions. There's just this pole sticking up (or down) in the middle with no purpose save perhaps XM radio.

I like the enlarged personel capacity in the back, but I miss the speeder bike dock from the old set. Also, with all that seating room in the back, if you mount this set on a shelf anywhere near eye-height, you are going to see every single interior angle exposed from the rear.

Also not a fan of the bunge legs, I liked the old At-Te's click-hinge geared leg joints better. I imagine the bricklink people will see prices of those old joints rise now.

The figures are not stellar, especially compared to Clones from the AOTC collection, but at least you get another useful brown hairpiece, a new alien/jedi and a great Slimer figure.

Truthfully I cannot suggest this set if you already have the original, at least not until I see how the larger Gunship connects (or not) with it.

And after seeing the Twilight, well really if you have to throw $100 away you couldn't do worse. I'd rather get a second minifig scale ISD from TRU than the Twilight. Blech!

Yea, I used to be a pretty big SW fan, but my passion has seemed to die out, when I used to spend a lot of time on CABG "Clone Army Builder's Guild" we found a ton of preproduction photos, one of the Droid GUnship which we thought was fake, and a picture of a TX-130 tank from Battlefront 1 & 2, which has apparently not been released.

October is when both the Droid Gunship and the Clone Army Tank will be released. Not sure if they are exclusive to any one store, but with that date I am suspecting it may be so.

Got a Toys R Us flyer in my email. It mentioned that they are giving a free poster for purchases of $30.00 of Clone Wars Lego. While supplies last.

I hope that the make a similar offer at Toys R Us in Canada.

I have to check my local TRU for that set. Gotta have lava pieces. :D

I went to the local LEGO store and checked out the sets. Gotta say, I wasn't impressed with them although I did pick up the spider droid set. It's got some neet action and it's kinda posable but I gave the figs to my kids. I thought about getting the RGS, but at $120 American, I didn't think it was worth it.
