Howdy! I like Lego Castle, and I'm a freelance artist!

Post by Reiniger »

Howdy, all! I'm about to be a dad for the first time (my wife is having our baby boy in September), so of course I need to start scouting out the Legos that he'll have to have later on, when he's old enough not to swallow them! I always loved my castle legos, but the last ones I had were Wolfpack and Dragon Knights. I'm liking the new stuff - I'll probably get on board when the elves come out.

Some of my hobbies are miniatures (not gaming, just painting - mostly Warhammer Empire) and drawing (see signature). In fact, I freelance as a miniature designer once in a while, which is fun. I've also done some freelance work for Wizards of the Coast. I'm always up for trading artwork for my interests of the day (which has recently included WotC minis, Star Wars figures, and Marvel Legends), so let's add Lego Castle to the list! Just PM me or email auralius@hotmail.com if you're interested.

I've been looking through posts, and I've seen some "sigfigs." I thought it was a cool idea, and I'd like to do my own. I'm a big fan of Warhammer Empire warrior priests, and I've seen some pieces that I think would work together, but I haven't yet found a store on bricklink that sells all of them. The pieces are:
-King Jayko breastplate (from Mistlands Tower)
-Blacksmith body and legs, mallet, and shield (also from Mistlands Tower)
-Brown Jedi hood
-This head: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemPic.asp?P=3626bps2
...or this head: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemPic ... 3626bpb204

Any advice on how to get them all in one place?

Guess that's all. Glad to be here. And take a look at the links in my sig - very castle-y, I promise!:)

Welcome to C-C! I had a look through your Photobucket album, and I must say, your Witch Hunter and Spider Ranger are very awesome.
I hope you enjoy your stay here at this fine establishment. 8)

Welcome to CC! As far as bricklink goes, if you have a user, add the items to your wishlist, and then when you visit a store, you can see all the items it has that are on your wishlist.

God bless.

Envious of the impressive drawing skill you have there. Care to share any details on what you've worked on for Wizards?

I colored one of your line arts:

I'm a bit of a jack of all trades artist, but my line/figure drawing sucks. :P

Peppermint Pig - Nice! What program did you use? The one thing I wish I could do with my drawings is color them...haven't had the time to learn traditional media, and I haven't bothered to get a tablet and software. One day though! And feel free to crib any of my drawings to color! I did some orthos (front, back, side) for WotC for a project that was going to be released in August, but got bumped back due to restructuring at Hasbro (to be continued...)

WARork - such a tease...

Everyone else - thanks for the kind words and welcome. I'm looking forward to looking around more!

Reiniger, be sure to check craigslist for any local sales. That's a good way to inherit pieces (particularly Star Wars parts that tend to be costlier on BL). The armor and shield WARork posted are probably easier to find on Bricklink, though.

I used Photoshop 3.0.5 (Mac OS app). It's old software, but it does exactly what I want. I'm also familiar with Painter and Inkscape. I only used a mouse on your line work to outline color areas, then created layers with fill/gradient for lighting.

Sure, I wouldn't mind coloring some more of your work in the future. If you have something you'd like colored, just ask. Would prefer something more high-res though. I enjoy collab work. :)

Wow, strange time to get into Lego. Your going to be a Dad soon and you want to start buying a very addictive toy? Not to mention a toy that will need to be kept out of junior's reach for a few years. You are a brave, foolish, and terribly geeky fellow. Welcome to CC, where you are sure to meet many more such people.
