Weekly Set Review: Dwarf Key Chain

Post by architect »

Join the Weekly Classic Castle set review discussion. Please post your opinions on the set play ability, piece selection, design, etc. Which sets stand up to our catapult of critique and which ones crumble in shame!

This weeks set is 852194 Dwarf Key Chain.

Dwarf Key Chain, currently available for 3.99 USD or 3.99 EU, is the only Castle key chain on Shop at Home. It features a Dwarf with a orange beard, silver helmet, and a metal chain.

I think that this figure is the pick of the Dwarfs.

I consider the dwarfs faction much like that of the Forestmen and Wolfpack as being self sufficient and independent of the larger factions and desirable for a key chain/magnet ect.

I have been collecting all the castle key rings since KK1 and consider this one together with the Blue Viking the best in design.

I don’t wear them on a key chain as I find they wear out quickly from abrasion with the keys ect.

It seems difficult to accumulate the dwarfs in any great numbers cheaply. There was a time when I would have been tempted to buy a number of these and remove the chain if I was after an army of Dwarfs.

Regards
Mario

What can you really say about it?

I guess I could comment on the dwarfs in general...

Nice figures, though they're a little hard to pose, since their legs don't move. I just wish the beards looked better when they weren't wearing hats. Or that they'd done some hair pieces to go with the beards.

The stubby legs do offer an advantage as a key chain. They will not break off easily like regular minifigure legs. The beard and helmet are made of a more bendable plastic than ABS. This should also add to the lifespan of the key chain.

I've had this keychain for a few months and have gotten many compliments on it. There has been some slight paint/color abrasion, but not nearly as much as I would have expected.

My Wife got it for me as a gift. I made it so I can remove him and put him back on with a necklace closure. Its pretty neat and keeps the kids busy when we are out and about.

making him removable also makes another dwarf for the legion.

Something about putting a dwarf (or any other figure) on a chain sounds like a medieval torture devise. My thought would be to rescue the dwarf from the chain and set him free.

Ha, that's just what I was thinking :D

I'd probably take the chain off and have the fig as some kind of wandering wise-man or sooth-sayer type.

Sorry, really off topic  Back on topic, it would be cool to have him with you on your keys, and somehow a dwarf seems more apt than many figs for a keychain (what with their love of metal and loyalty etc).

I love the dwarfs, so I couldn't resist getting the keychain.
It doesn't really have any added value to my collection, I use it what it's made for: a keychain.

So, how easily does this guy come apart, and how useful are the pieces obtained thereby?
