Modular castle WIP
Modular castle WIP
Dear all,
today I registered on this forum. I'm currently building a modular castle.
Although not finished I would like to share my progress.
The scenery is modular in a sense that I can split it up in several base plates.
The castle itself is entirely modular, the walls are seperable and so are its towers. I made the construction modular, because I wanted to experiment with modularity. Currently I'm collecting bricks to build the back side of the castle. The layout is loosely based on the Muiderslot.
Currently, though the castle only fits the scenery in one way.
Since this is my first castle and scenery MOC any feedback and constructive comments are highly appriciated.
I have been posting some photos on eurobricks. For convenience, I've made a simular format here to show my progress, starting with the latest photos.
Kind regards,
Teddy
Update December 2008
All current wall sections combined with the landscape.
Fourth and final version of the Keep, updated courtyard buildings and scenery:
Current windows:
Third version of the Keep design WIP which goes at the "right back" corner.
A redesign version 2 was after usefull comments of blueandwhite.
After a chat session with Captain Green Hair I desided to redo the windows

I LOVE this castle. But could you take some better pictures of the hoist
mechanism?
If you wonder why i ask...I would just love to try to build it and try it out myself.

Welcome to classic Castle!
Your castle is very nice! My favorite part is the portcullis. The castle really improved a lot since the first pictures.
The size of the pictures you post in this forum shouldn't exeed 400x400 pixels, so you should scale your pictures down, use thumbnails or post a link to the brickshelf folder
Do you know Lowlug?

Awesome! Your first castle MOC, eh? That's definitely 1290x better than my first castle MOC (which was also based on the Muiderslot) Here it is if you're interested... link.
This really is a great creation, both the castle itself and the terrain!
And lastly, welcome to Classic-Castle, it's always good to have another Dutchman around. You should tell us a little more, and introduce yourself over in the Announcements forum, if you want.

Your creation has already been spotted discussed on our Lowlug forum hereDNL wrote:Do you know Lowlug?

Between plotting to kill you all and chasing balls of yarn, I also build MOCs

This is great. In fact, it's apparently so good that it's been found. I'd love to know how the portcullis is made and operated.

Great Castle! Great Interiors! I like all the little details you have!
Only Nitpick is the windows using the 2 fence pieces would look better sideways in my opinion.
Overall a great MOC!

Dear all,
after a chat session with Captain Green Hair from EuroBricks I decided to redo the windows of the Keep entirely.
Hopefully you like the "Keep" I'be designed.
Any comments and feedback is highly appriciated.
Kind regards,
Teddy

...stares dumstruck at the castle...
This is truely amazing work here. I can't even begin to think how many pounds of bricks are there or how many hours went into this thing. Everyone is going to be talking about the castle so I'll focus on the other things. The trees are some of the few I've seen that actually look like autumn trees. The mixture of light, dark, and plain green in the grass is wonderful. I can't wait to see how you continue to improve upon this.
I'm going to have to try that stained glass window design sometime...
