Siege guns

Postby timber_wolf899 » Thu Nov 13, 2008 10:23 am

I've been reading the general series by David Drake......and

I got to thinking. The cannon we have for pirates are mostly field guns it seems. What do you guys think of a larger siege or fortress gun model cannon?

Or how about mortars? I was just at Fort McHenry (really interesting, btw, definitely could inspire a great MOC) and was interested in the different types of guns used in the war of 1812. The mortars were the source of the "bombs bursting in air" of the U.S. National Anthem. This page has some images and descriptions of different artillery in use during the American Revolutionary War - a couple of decades earlier, but pretty similar technology.

Yes.

Just yes.

I'll be using those type of cannons in my medieval Lego armies.

I love the lego cannon piece. I don't feel there is a need for a larger one. I would really like to see if someone has tried to make a siege gun or anything larger.

Here's one of my favourite examples from CCCV:

I don't know if anyone has ever asked for anything like the LARGE cannon of Mons Meg in the historic Castle of Edinburgh Scotland. It was a true first in "bunker busters".
