My order had somehow not been registered in their database even though i got past the checkout and got a order reference number and everything.
We called today and they couldn't find the order so i had to reorder it. But there goes several days of waiting down the drain...
But. now it is ordered (again) and i can see the order status when i am logged in.
I think the problem was that i wasn't logged in to and account when i placed the first order. But it was still possible to order. On the
Checkout, "thank you for your order"-page... it had said:

Update! I found another missing piece, and this one I do not have a replacement for, so I had to fill out a request form online and wait for it to get here. Production: Halted.
It's very bad, but as I may have mentioned in an earlier post, this is the third set within about the last year that I have had problems with, and I am going to keep this in mind the next time I am considering buying one of their pricier sets.

Just out of curiosity, what piece were you missing? I was missing one of the dark brown spyglass pieces (and somehow ended up with a gold one instead).
To those who have missing parts, this set or any other: how many sets on average do you buy? Is it a whole lot? Cause I consider the number I buy to be relatively high yet I don't ever recall having a new set with any missing parts. Maybe I'm just lucky?
I agree with melonkernel. Every time I think I have lost a piece or it was left out, I find it three days later just before I vacuum it up.
As for the set, it is no less than the best set I have every put together. From the minifigures, to the food stand and tree, to the houses themselves, it was fun to make.
The watermill is incredible, when it turns it bangs on a sword inside. The tree is no less stable than any other LEGO tree, mostly because of the leaves, not the branches. My favorite thing may be all the animals you get in the set. It is nice to know that there are more than horses and trolls in the world!
Overall, I love this set, and I just ordered a second because not only is it a great play set, but it may just be the best parts set I have seen in a long time as well.
The latest missing piece was a 1x2 brown 45 degree sloped brick. This is what is missing SO FAR. I had to stop building the first building, and I am going to start on the second, so we'll see if anything else is missing.
To answer someone else's question, I have bought 3 $100+ sets in the last year. This one, Green Grocer, and the Hobby Train (I got that one on clearance but it was originally $100 or so). I had issues with all three. So right now I have a 100% failure rate with large sets. Small sets never give me any trouble.
As I've said before, it doesn't bother me that much, but I look at it from the point of view of a kid who had to save up for it, or had to wait until Christmas to see if he or she got it, and then has something like this happen to them. I can imagine being 12 years old and building the Black Monarch's Castle, and having to stop and wait 3 weeks for my missing parts to arrive in the mail. I can also imagine being a parent and thinking that Legos sure are expensive (as many parents do) and then having to deal with an upset kid when he can't build his new set because there are missing parts. After that happened a few times in a row, I would probably not want to buy him Lego anymore.
I've don't buy tons and tons of lego sets, maybe 20-25 per year, which includes smaller and larger sets. There are supposed to be 20 dark brown spyglass pieces in the set, somehow I ended up with 19 dark brown ones and one gold one, and I'm 99.9% sure I didn't lose one of them. It just seemed odd to me that I wasn't so much missing a piece as I ended up with one of the wrong color and was wondering if anybody else who was missing pieces had the same thing happen.
I've only had it happen once before from a set I ordered from S@H. The box looked fine, but once I opened it one of the polybags was ripped open and there were maybe 20 parts missing. I filled out the form for customer service and received the missing parts a week or so later, no questions asked. Other than the hassle of having to wait for the parts to complete the set, it really wasn't a big deal.
I haven't heard anything back yet from Lego for the MMV, I sent in the request a week or so ago, but we'll see how it goes. It's not the end of the world, but I could understand someone being upset about it, especially if it has happened multiple times. Generally my experience with Lego is their customer service is top notch and really interested in keeping people happy.
I'd have to hunt around but I think my set was missing a 1x4 black plate. Instead I have an extra light bley 1x4 plate, but this could be attributed to the hard-to-differentiate colors in the instructions and I may have used one somewhere else...but I don't think so .

I agree. I am not personally upset about it, and I agree that Lego has top notch customer service. Just the fact that they send replacement parts no questions asked speaks to their great CS, as that is something that could be taken advantage of by dishonest folks. I am just somewhat disturbed by it because I see it as a downturn in Lego's quality control, and because repeated problems of this sort would be enough to lose the business of people who are not Lego fanatics like we are. As I stated earlier, if I were a parent and every time this happened I had to deal with an upset and disappointed child, I would start to think about alternatives to Lego.
Hopefully this is just a case of me having some bad Lego luck and is not a widespread problem, although it seems like several people in this thread are having similar difficulties.
I can totally understand the frustration of missing parts. There have been several times where I'm convinced something didn't come with the set only to find it later under the couch or some such. Sometimes I've even raided my collection for a replacement before I've found it. Of course, in a set like this with lots of new stuff that isn't always possible.
Regarding the baseplate issue, I'm actually kind of glad there were none included. The more I build, the more I find myself moving away from baseplates, even for large landscaping stuff. I'm actually thinking about building some landscaping for the set to go on. A nice stream, some farm fields, and of course two or three more sets worth of houses, when I can afford them.
