A staff member at UK studio Traveller's Tales has seemingly confirmed that the developer is currently working on two new Lego games, long-rumoured to be in production.
According to the staff member's CV, Lego Harry Potter and Lego Indiana Jones 2: The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull are both in development at the Warner Bros owned studio.
While EA has the rights to publish one more game based on the Harry Potter movies, Warner Bros is the parent of the Potter franchise and has already put Traveller's Tales to work on other brands including Batman.
The staff member also states that they had worked on a demo to pitch to Peter Jackson for a game based on the forthcoming Hobbit movies, due in 2012.
Traveller's Tales is known to be working on one other Lego title - Lego Battles - due for release on the DS this year, and had considerable success with the Lego Star Wars franchise.

Re: Lego Harry Potter/ Lego Indiana Jones 2
I despise Indy 4, so obviously I won't be buying that game. I am not understanding their reasoning... They were able to cram three movies into a game, but now they are taking the least liked movie, and stretching it into a game all of its own? Granted, kids seem to be drawn to crappy movies, so I suppose it'll still make money.
LEGO has done at least one HP game, so no surprise there.
BUT OMIGOSH. A LEGO Hobbit game?! Yes, yes, yes!

I definately hope for The Hobbit to be made into a LEGO video game. Though I'm not especially excited about HP or Indiana Jones.

Re: Lego Harry Potter/ Lego Indiana Jones 2
Before everyone gets too carried away, I'd like to point out that what the article probably means is that this company - Traveler's Tales - is working on a Hobbit-film game as well as their LEGO games, not that they're doing a LEGO Hobbit game. It's kinda odd that they even brought it up, since I'm pretty sure that the two are totally separate.
Re: Lego Harry Potter/ Lego Indiana Jones 2
Now that I've re-read the article, it does seem to show that. I guess because it was mentioned along with the other games, I assumed it would be a LEGO title.

That's the way I understood it, hence the omission from the thread title.Azaghal wrote:Before everyone gets too carried away, I'd like to point out that what the article probably means is that this company - Traveler's Tales - is working on a Hobbit-film game as well as their LEGO games, not that they're doing a LEGO Hobbit game.
The post itself is a little vague, but i'd imagine that a "Lego Hobbit" game would be a licensing nightmare unless TLG actually had the rights to produce toys for the film? That said, it doesn't seem to stop the release of a Harry Potter game- I was under the impression it was a license TLG had lost?

I hope the Hobbit will be turned into a lego video game and then maybe it may restart the liking of lord of the rings and then they might do a lord of the rings one.

Why would they do a LEGO Hobbit game when LEGO doesn't have a LOTR license?gormadoc1 wrote:I hope the Hobbit will be turned into a lego video game and then maybe it may restart the liking of lord of the rings and then they might do a lord of the rings one.

Where is your imagination Josh? It's obvious that the new fantasy line is a rip-off off LotR, isn't it? What with knights, dwarfs and trolls (I won't call them Orcs because TLG doesn't call them that.)? We all know that it was Tolkien that invented all those things and now with the Elves coming out next year, who can dispute it? I for one really have my fingers double crossed that Traveller's Tales makes an LotR LEGO video game so that the kids can stop actually playing with LEGO and just pop their imaginations into their Wii.

Why do I have to add the word "minifig" to my spell checker every time I use it?!
