Quinquennial

Post by Formendacil »

My dear Benses and Bruces, and my dear Savas and Mnemneths, and Falcons, and Black Knights, and Lionses, and Fright Knights, and Morcians, Ankorians, Dragon Masters, Forestmen and Wolfpacks--WolfPACK. Also my good Elephant_Knight that I welcome back at last to Bag End. Today is my fifth anniversary: I am five today!

I hope you are all enjoying yourselves on the forum as much as I am. I shall not keep you long. I have called you all together for a Purpose. Indeed, for Three Purposes! First of all, to tell you that I am immensely fond of you all, and that five years is too short a time to live among such excellent and admirable AFOLs. I don't know half of you half as well as I should like; and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.

Secondly, to celebrate my anniversary. I should say: OUR birthday. For it is, of course, also the birthday of my alter ego, Formendacil. This name comes of age and into its maturity today. Together we score ten years online. Your numbers* were chosen to fit this remarkable total: two handfuls, if I may use the expression.

Thirdly and finally, he said, I wish to make an ANNOUNCEMENT. I regret to announce that--though, as I said, five years is far too short a time to spend among you--this is the END. I am going. I am leaving my ambitions to make great MOCs NOW.

INSTEAD, I've admitted my preference is for playing or storytelling. Head over to the Stories Forum for the official release of my first public attempt here, post-CCRP.

*The maximum number I actually expect to reply... :tasty:

Hello there, and happy fifth birthday! Are you by chance a fan of Tolkien? I'm not sure why I ask, but maybe it's that you have a similar style of writing as him or something  . Anyway, congratulations and I look forward to listening to (or reading) your storytelling...

I am glad that you are still enjoying Classic-Castle after five years. Time does fly. It is nice to know that a few old timers like us are here ;)

There's something fishy about this my dears. I believe the mad Formendacil is off again. But why worry? He hasn't taken the vittles with him.

Anyways, congrats and many happy returns. Good show on a generally boring type of post. So good, that I had been planning to do the same thing for mine. Bugger.

I suppose you feel that everything has gone off spendidly and according to plan. You have wisely kept this secret all these years. But I don't feel too sure about this whole affair. It has now come to the final point. You have had your joke, and alarmed or offended most of your relations, and given the whole forum something to talk about for nine days, or ninety-nine more likely. Are you going any further?

Sigh, no, after all I believe your plan is probably the best. Take care of yourself! You are old enough, and perhaps wise enough.

Congrats! And try not to go off on any adventures that are overly dangerous!

Fun story by the way.

*sits for a moment in silence, trying to figure out whether it works out to a compliment in the end*

Speaking of knowing people, I can't say I ever knew you per se but since my early days as a noob I remember looking up to this mad, brilliant Tolkein addict. I am, of course, talking about Foamrider... ;)

Thinks of something Tolkieny to say

Nope, nothing's coming.

I may be two days late (Blame it on BSG, and building BSB, and building Battle entry), but there is still time to say Happy fifth Birthday!

Well, I'll have to read that story of yours. It's good to have veterans of battles that have survived to spread their wisdom.

Kirk,
Member of Classic-Castle not long enough, and not leaving soon either

Formendacil, it is regretful that you are leaving us, and even worse that I did not join this site long enough ago to know you better. Good luck with whatever you choose next!
