Re: Battles Contest 2009 Entries
Here is my Fourth BC 2009 entry.
This is a 8x8 base by the way.
King of the Mountain
Storyline-
The great Dragon Master General Valen, for more than a decade, led the Dragon Master armies to countless victories. At last tired of his limitations as general he offered his service to the Dark Necromancer in turn for further power and glory. Valen never seemed to find sufficient of either under his former master. The Dark Necromancer offered Valen more and more power until at last he was his greatest undead champion… and firmly under his control…. Or so he thought.
After several years of service Lord Valen broke free of his master’s will. He then warned the land he would begin his own war until all submitted to him. For months armies and heroes met Valen only to fall to his terrible double scythe. His rampage continued and he destroyed village and town after village and town, his powers growing with each victory. At last the great undead general made an ultimatum: all would surrender or die. He offered a fight to the death, he against all the heroes of the land who would face him.
Then word was whispered that if he was defeated his powers would fall to the victor.
Now champions from all the land congregated toward the lone peak where Valen kept his lair. Some came for honour, some duty, others glory or love, and many came for Valen’s power. Many wished his power for their own and would stop at nothing to have it. Would Valen remain victorious? Would one of the heroes triumph and save the land? Or would another villain defeat the undead general and take his place?

Last BC 2009 entry
Triple-crossed
Intro-
As the Black Monarch’s power grew, so to did his ambition. Establishing his border at the major east-west road of the land had made him wealth beyond his earlier expectations. Never idle or content he began looking from his wooded and mountainous home south to the fields, forests and prosperous towns of the Crown Lands. Within months his army was armed and moving south to the closest of the Crown cities, Weston.
As he neared the city his scouts captured a local townsman and after a brief interrogation found worrisome news. The Crown Army was on his tail, and close. Worse still, a second army had already joined the town garrison and militia and were waiting for him and his men. Deciding he could not afford to risk battle with two Crown armies he changed his course from Weston to Easton, the sister city that was not far off. This way he could perhaps keep both armies to one flank.
As he made plans to execute his new course the peasant he had captured presented him a delightfully cunning trap for the Crown army behind him. One of the quickest paths to Easton from Weston was the Rolling River Gorge. Unbeknownst to any but those familiar to these parts was that there was one place where the sides of the cliffs were accessible to a large number of men that, from below, still could not be seen. There Monarch could have his men lie in wait for the following Crown Army. To ensure the army followed, the peasant would stay behind and guide them to the ambuscade.
Now Black Monarch’s army waited. They could see and hear the Crown Army approaching down below. The commoner lead the Crown Army forward in the deep gorge beside the Rolling River. Once the peasant gave them the sign the Crown Army would be no more and Black Monarch would once more have won the day… or would he?

Re: Battles Contest 2009 Entries
Hey there, here's another entry from me. It's a rather big stretch, but I think it could still be ,"legal".
The Stealing Of The Queen's Diamond
Complete set of images on Flickr
Unforetunatly, I'm afraid this'll be my last entry. I was really busy working on a castle, but I ran out of several needed pieces. Who knows though, maybe I'll suprise myself and whip up another vig for the contest.
God bless.

The taking of the township of Veygroth
My final entry for the CC battles contest, I almost didn't get this finished, what with GCSE exams and all that, so I will freely admit that behind the wall was a rushed job, nothing worth any attention. But you don't need to know about that yet.
Twelve days ago we received word from the mountains that villages were being raided by Orcs, increasing in numbers and confidence. The prince rode out with three-score men to put a stop to what we all thought was a small problem, easily dealt with.
How wrong we were...
Two days ago the prince returned, on foot, with less than ten men out of the sixty he had departed with. Also with them were many peasant refugees. We soon found out why.
Gnashing at their heels was an Orc army almost a thousand strong, lead by Daemons blacker than the darkest night. They only just managed to shut the gates in time and still many were slaughtered within our gaze, just under the castle walls...
I pray to the Gods we will survive, but I do not hold much hope...

I do not have very many trolls, so this will have to do.
