Black Falcons Fortress redux
Hey gang, back in February I was going to get the BFF for my birthday but my wife accidentally got me the Guarded Inn. After a bit of pouting I decided to make my own version. I see this as less of a castle and maybe more like a manor house? It was important to capture the look (I hope I did) than to really detail the inside since what I mostly build are shelf models, not play sets. I'd love to do some more things in the 'bowels' of it but I don't have any idea what to put down there. Maybe an armoury? A barracks? PLMKWYT. Thanks.

Sorry for the quality of some of the pics, I'm still playing with the settings of my mother-in-laws camera.

Trust me, I think I'm funnier than you do.
Why do I have to add the word "minifig" to my spell checker every time I use it?!

Awesome!
Love it!
This looks great! I like how you were able to improvise and make those 45 degree corners on the front towers. I'll have to try that out myself.
You've definetely kept the color scheme and overal "feel" of the BFF but added a lot more!

I remember that I wanted to call this to everyone's attention. I don't know if anyone has done this technique on their dormers or not but it's a great way to finish the ends and lock together the 2x4 slopes.

If you're building a manor house, you could add a storeroom, kitchen, and dining room. If you want a castle, you could build a dungeon, an armory, and a small throne room. Looks really great!

This MOC is great! I love it! I really like the way you did the edge of your dormers and the way you finished the top row of roof slopes at the edges. The interior looks very nice. The stable makes good use of the Dragon Fortress pillars.
A couple problems I have with this MOC, two of which can be seen in this picture: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=808439: The first (minor) one is the wooden bar on the door; I don't think it is very affective on the outside. You would have trouble fastening it from the inside, and the enemy would have an easy time breaking it. Two, the fireplace needs much more foundation; as heavy as it is. It would needs some pretty heft beams under it since it doesn't go all the way the the ground. The only others I have are that you should use some more black and yellow in the from to go with the door and the arch. But still great MOC! Keep it up.

Let's not forget that the entire idea behind a castle was to combine a fortress with a noble's home.Maybe that is more of a manor house, but it still looks very defendable.
Anyway, I love your creation OR. I was a bit skeptical of the gray roof at first, but it has grown on me.
