Castle Rockenstein
Hey guys, I haven't logged in here in a while due to real life business but I'm still a castle junkie. This is called Rockenstein and it's basic shape is mostly ripped off from a portion of Lichtenstein castle. I bought an old record a few weeks ago with the castle on the cover, tacked it on the wall and started building. I built it over the course of the last few weekends of mine.

Hi Rocko!
Impressive castle! The similitude to is undeniable.
It got a whole different look from your other high-level creations. I think it is the surrounding wood/vegetation. You tends to use water instead of (Of course Lichtenstein don't have any coast or big lakes).

jens

Re: Castle Rockenstein
Thanks! Because this was based on something as opposed to a completely original idea, there were a few angles and techniques that a were not something I would have come up with on my own. It was a fun build and a great experiment.

Hey Rock,
You never have to apologize for life taking you away from the forums, as long as you promise to always have an offering like this when you come back. Yowza - that's a beauty. Looking forward to more pictures.

Re: Castle Rockenstein
Amazing work Rocko! Another masterwork of yours. The tall tower you have there is very nice. The supports for the parapet on it really look formidable. It looks amazingly close to the original. It’d make a lovely postcard.
Welcome back, hope things are going well for you right now. In life that is, looks like in Lego you are doing very well.

The round towers and all the windows are what really stands out to me, it's really impressive. The design is fantastic, there are tons of different angles to look at that make it really interesting. Thanks for sharing!

Sweet. Whoever has the leg strength to jump to that drawbridge is one buff man.

Re: Castle Rockenstein
In my oppinion, it's your best creation. Wonderful work, nice junction of round towers and square buildings. Great...

Great job! What an awesome creation. I love all the little details, and it looks just like the original (save the white tower but that's just a nitpick of course).
Looks excellent!

Wrong Lichtenstein, Jens Schloß Lichtenstein isn't actually in or even near Lichtenstein, it's in Baden-Württemberg, some 40 km south of Stuttgart. I expected you of all people to know thatjens wrote:(Of course Lichtenstein don't have any coast or big lakes).
Between plotting to kill you all and chasing balls of yarn, I also build MOCs

Re: Castle Rockenstein
Jaw-dropping. Two things stand out for me: that little octagonal turret with the flags is just too cute for words, and I really like the largest of the three trees - it really looks like an old plant.
Re: Castle Rockenstein
Is this the biggest thing you've made?
What record? Just curious.
