I like castles but all of them are diffrent around the world, but if I must choose then it would be England's castle's. Recently I just went to Warick castle in Warickshire, it was a bit commercialised but it did have that castle feel and the gift shop sold Lego Castle :D so I brought tower raid from there. The castle itself though looked good, I didnt go in but I am returning on the 4th July to see the fireworks with my Family.

My father was originally from this region, when you are in Abruzzi and Molise the landscape is still dominated by hilltop fortified towns and castles with surrounding agricultural lands.

Italian/Spanish castles seem more earthy, I prefer the more noble aesthetic of French castles especially Chateau de Saumur and its verical emphasis

This image is my favourite and I consider the greatest castle image ever it for example is attributed with inspiring the current imagery of Camelot.

I also like the English/Welsh border castles and the German Hill castles

"in memoria" le château de Coucy (you have a greatest topic in french)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ch%C3%A2teau_de_Coucy

It was certainly the greatest medieval castle always built in France and who stay in very medieval conditions but destroy by german army during WWI;

We haven't real very great castles stay in medieval conditions

In better conditions castle of Bonaguil:

Just nerar France, a great savoyard and beautiful castle on Leman lake, le château de Chillon in Vaud canton:

Not a great castle but a castle born during the war againist Savoy and Dauphiné and very close the "savoyard square" and very close medieval fortifications.

It's where I'm working now.

I disagree. This is a beautiful castle surrounded by a wonderful landscape. It's not as big or ornate as many of the other castles in this thread, but it certainly is fitting with my tastes.

Well, so many countries have great castles.
One of those i like most Easternforrest Chiefyard, where i live. (well, its not really a castle, but its four extended tudor house (a former farm), and ive oftenly thought of building crenelations on the roofs and a wooden pallisade around my garden :)

For teamarchitect I don't want to say that this castle wasn't important and interesting, just only on the scheme of "great castle" by size it isn't well in this topic.

perhaps one day I could organize here one exhibition on castle and toys with lego and playmobil dioramas.

I really can't choose. There are great castles in South-Germany, but England and Luxembourg have some great castles too. I think Neuschwanstein is my absolute favorite.

A example of a great castle in Luxembourg, Vianden:
http://images.google.nl/images?hl=nl&q= ... 2&aq=f&oq=

And a great English castle, Dover:

I've been to both of these castle's, and they are both amazing.
