Sails
Does anyone out there have suggestions on making sails for a ship? Ideally, I'd like to be able to print the Crownie emblem on a fabric sail (a la the skeleton and troll ships), but I don't know how feasible that would be. My thought is to scan in the emblem into my computer, blow it up, and put it on a light-and-dark-blue quartered section, maybe with a gold border. That seems simple enough, but I don't know of any way to print that onto fabric. Paper would work, I guess, but the idea of paper sails just sort of makes me cringe. Any suggestions?

If I were you I would make the decal on the computer and print it onto iron on paper. Then you just iron it on to the fabric of your choice, cut it out and there you you, a custom printed sail.

go on bricklink send her a pm and tell her whats you want.
She made some flags for me once and the fabrick is PERFECT along with the print.
I never regret getting thoso flags alltough I am in a differant scene right now
(I went from WWII to Medieval).
any way thats al I can suggest she makes AMAZING stuff for a reasable price.

Re: Sails
A simple solution (good for testing out colours and size), is to scan in your design. Adjust the image size, colour, contrast etc. Then just print it out on paper, using a colour printer. Cut the paper to the sail size that you want, attach this to your Lego ship, and see what you think. You may need to tweek the image to get it right, but at least you havn't wasted too much effort and time with decals or cloth.

Re: Sails
i don't know if it helps, but i located a4 sheets of "canvas paper" at my local art supply store. its a book of 10 pages, and while quite thick, the sails and capes I've made worked ok in my humble...
The capes are shown here, I'll see iif i can find a pic of the ship....

these where printed on my inkjet printer, meaning the hardest part is cutting them out.
