Medieval timeline

Post by Bruce N H »

Hey all,

Here's a group project for us, inspired by Prince Imdol. Add to this timeline of medieval history with MOCs either you made or ones you find on Brickshelf or whatever. Include a thumbnail and a link back to the original builder. If we get a good number of entries, later on, I'll try to organize the list into a cohesive article.

Something like this:

Image 982 - Erik the Red settles in Greenland. - figure by Dunechaser

Image 1415 - Capture of the French city of Harfleur by Henry V of England - scene by Reejoc

Image 1453 - Fall of Constantinople. - scene by Artizan

Image 1517 - Martin Luther posts his 95 Theses on the door of the church in Wittenberg. - scene by Jojo

Image 1520 - Order of Friars Minor Capuchin founded. - monastery by elalfreddo

Well, this didn't catch on, so I'm going to unsticky the thread. I still think an illustrated timeline would make a really fun article, so if anyone wants to join in on seeking out relevant MOCs, add them to this thread. If we get enough links I'll put it together as an article.

Here's my very-old-MOC (made for CCCV) of Leif Eriksson discovering Vinland (present-day Newfoundland) in 1001 A.D. It's not very good, but it is historical, so...

I also have a somewhat crappy CCCV entry of the fall of Jerusalem to Crusader knights in 1099:

I have had a lot of work, so my LEGO time has been limited, but I am so happy you guys took on my idea!

I am going to make some MOC's ASAP. I can't wait! I will try to make some of events that haven't been done.

I know it has died a little, but here are some ideas:

The Battle of Poitiers - 732
The Siege of Vienna - 1529
The Battle of Yarmuk - 636
The Battle of Manzikert - 1071
The Battle of Nicopolis - 1396
The Discovery of Gunpowder - (Perhaps a Vignette) Around 1300
1492, Columbus Sails the Ocean Blue
The Split of the Roman Catholic Church - 1054
Siege of Acre, and the Fall of the Kingdom of Jerusalem - 1291

I think its good and some of the MOC's are great. One thing though, should'nt you call it The MIddle Ages timeline because the middle ages span from 500-1500 and the medieval period was around from 1000-1500, so all the creations that people have put down would fit in, anyway it was just a thought. There are still great creation's though :) .

Some very neat historic things up...

Lindisfarne was not actually the start of the viking attacks on England or otherwise.... just better PR. One of the most amazing places I have been in my life though. It is a tidal island for those who are interested in visiting, so be aware of the high tide times!

I have a fairly long and detailed list of medieval events somewhere I can put up if anyone was interested. I would have to find it though....
