I've never been able to get the "screw" piece out. What I've ended up doing was cutting the loop off and then working the headgear and head that way. Then I cut the metal piece off, flush with the neck.

Some people have said that they've gotten it out, but they must have had more patience than me. As for the legs...yes. Welcome to wonderful world of Lego keychains. Most, if not all, are glued together.

I just use a pair of needle nose pliers to cut everything off. But you have to be careful or you'll damage the helmet/hair of the minifig. If you do it right, it wont be damaged but there will be a hole in the helmet/hair but you can always get a plume in there for a custom look.
When in Rome, I do as the Romans, and when in Megablocks, I do shots at the bar.
