Custom Faction - Lion and the Cross Kingdom

Post by SteelKnight »

I have been working on designing my own custom faction. Here is what I have so far. For now I am just calling it the Lion and the Cross Kingdom. Maybe I will come up with something different later. I haven't decided yet.

Let me know what you think.

I like it. Very regal lion. Love the design, the cross in the background suggesting a religious tie in but not overshadowing the main symbol of the family line.

Any clue on the backstory? Crusaders who kept to the cross and merged it with their royal crest as a sign of their obedience to god?

I really like it too. I'd love to see it on some torsos.

Very cool designs, I like the texture on the soldier torso. :)

I have been studying the crusades recently to learn more about that era so this is what I was thinking for a backstory.
Sir Andre de Milly was the son of a very wealthy nobleman who had extensive land holdings. He became a Templar Knight and fought for several years in the Holy Land. When the Kingdom of Jerusalem fell he was away with several other Knights under his command. They were escorting pilgrims to the Holy Land when the news reached them about the fall of Jerusalem. The pilgrims turned back home, but Sir Andre and his Knights continued on to towards the holy land to find out as much as they could about what had happened. Many of their close comrades had died defending Jerusalem. All of the news was devastating to Sir Andre and made him question his reason for joining the Templars.
Misgivings about the templars had entered his mind before and with the order seeming to be in disarray he made the decision to change directions in his life. There were many reports of pilgrims hiding throughout the Holy Land and in jeopardy of being enslaved or losing their lives. He gathered the Knight Templars under his command and told that he was leaving the order and was going to do all within his power to rescue the pilgrims in the Holy Land that had been left behind. Many of the Knight Templars under his command also left the order and followed him on his quest to rescue pilgrims from the Holy Land.
This is how the Lion and the Cross Knights began. They made many trips into the Holy Land and rescued several hundred pilgrims.

Nice designs, they are crisp and clean. I also would like to see them applied.

I agree, the design is very clean. Simple, but not simplistic. The indents on the ends of the cross spars is an interesting touch. I like it.
