I saw several articles announcing an important Anglo-Saxon hoard of gold and silver weaponry and gear. Check out the article and video here:

It's apparently the biggest find since Sutton Hoo, and it may eventually re-shape what we think of the Dark Ages. No plastic bricks in the hoard, though!

It also looks like it will become the largest by a full head and shoulders if the original piece counts are even close to right. I look forward to the final report. I have heard there may be enough of the helmet to reconstruct it!!! This might not sound like much but since there are only 4 helmets found from the period it is.... Some of the stuff is just so amazing, such a artistic culture.

Re: Anglo-Saxon Gold Hoard
I read this in the Times newspaper a few days ago, in fact where it was found, Staffordshire, is the county next to where I live. Finds like this are very important to learning more about the middle ages. The further you go back in time, the less information there is about that period. Anyway, its good that these artifacts were found it contributes to our understanding of history.

Re: Anglo-Saxon Gold Hoard
According to the news in NZ, the gold actually came from Sri Lanka, which makes it even more amazing. This may not be true however.

Cool! About 1500 pieces of gold and silver?! Must have been somewhat of a surprise to find...
