Those bricks are one example of clay fired bricks. The brick sizes and patterns can vary. In fact you could build the brick portions of your castle with all red elements and not show individual bricks. You are not limited to only using 1x2 plates. This category hopefully will help fans focus more on castles that are built partially or completely with bricks, and not only stone castles.stuifzand wrote: Build a Castle that uses clay fired bricks as a major part of its architecture.
Do you mean these bricks with "clay fired bricks", or doesn't the size of them matter?
Does it have to be build out of 1x2 plates or not? Many European castles are build by bricks by the way, except for the english ones. If you look at Dutch castles, they're almost all build out of bricks.
This category is looking for your own unique design and not a replica of a real castle. The real castle examples are for inspiration only. Keep in mind that the category fits the prize. 6073 Knight's Castle features red "bricks" built into the stone front gatehouse.rogue17 wrote:BTW, do you have some LEGO examples of what would qualify for the brick category? Are you asking us to build replicas of real-world castles that use bricks?
The brick can be a part of the castle such as a gatehouse, tower, timber frame building, crenelations, etc.DNL wrote:Does the brick castle have to be a whole castle or can it also be a part of a castle like a gatehouse or a keep?
Please see this map by the National Geographic Society as a rough guide for the countries in Western Europe: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Weste ... pe_map.svgHippotam wrote:Can you please define where Western Europe ends?
We are looking for middle age mocs in areas that fans do not focus on as much. This could include Byzantium, Russia, Japan, or even the Mayans or Inca's of the Americas.
No. You must enter at least six different categories to be eligible for the master builder.DNL wrote:Does this mean that if i build two entries for one category and five others for five other categories the two entries in the same category both count?
That category does allow three different places "scenes" up to the size limitations. You can only show one image per scene. They can not be combined together in a final image to make one "super scene". Yes, you can modify one place for all three "scenes."SlyOwl wrote:In the "Training a Knight" category, do all 3 scenes together have to fit within 48x48 or 32x64, or can they exceed that combined? Can they be a single scene, but modified between the 3 photos? Can they be built together as a larger scene (example)?
Edit: Wow, 12 Defense Archers!
Rich "Blackrock" Stehnach was extremely generous in donating the 12 Defense Archers this year. The winner will receive all sets but only one set of instructions to the set.
Only one picture per scene is allowed.nanuck95 wrote:One quick question. For the training a knight scene, we are to build 3 separate scenes. Are we limited to 3 pictures per scene, or 3 pictures overall (ie, 1 picture per scene)? Just want to make sure.
