Do you mean these bricks with "clay fired bricks", or doesn't the size of them matter?

Does it have to be build out of 1x2 plates or not? Many European castles are build by bricks by the way, except for the english ones. If you look at Dutch castles, they're almost all build out of bricks.
Those bricks are one example of clay fired bricks. The brick sizes and patterns can vary. In fact you could build the brick portions of your castle with all red elements and not show individual bricks. You are not limited to only using 1x2 plates. This category hopefully will help fans focus more on castles that are built partially or completely with bricks, and not only stone castles.
rogue17 wrote:BTW, do you have some LEGO examples of what would qualify for the brick category? Are you asking us to build replicas of real-world castles that use bricks?
This category is looking for your own unique design and not a replica of a real castle. The real castle examples are for inspiration only. Keep in mind that the category fits the prize. 6073 Knight's Castle features red "bricks" built into the stone front gatehouse.
DNL wrote:Does the brick castle have to be a whole castle or can it also be a part of a castle like a gatehouse or a keep?
The brick can be a part of the castle such as a gatehouse, tower, timber frame building, crenelations, etc.
Hippotam wrote:Can you please define where Western Europe ends?
Please see this map by the National Geographic Society as a rough guide for the countries in Western Europe: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Weste ... pe_map.svg
We are looking for middle age mocs in areas that fans do not focus on as much. This could include Byzantium, Russia, Japan, or even the Mayans or Inca's of the Americas.
DNL wrote:Does this mean that if i build two entries for one category and five others for five other categories the two entries in the same category both count?
No. You must enter at least six different categories to be eligible for the master builder.
SlyOwl wrote:In the "Training a Knight" category, do all 3 scenes together have to fit within 48x48 or 32x64, or can they exceed that combined? Can they be a single scene, but modified between the 3 photos? Can they be built together as a larger scene (example)?

Edit: Wow, 12 Defense Archers!
That category does allow three different places "scenes" up to the size limitations. You can only show one image per scene. They can not be combined together in a final image to make one "super scene". Yes, you can modify one place for all three "scenes."

Rich "Blackrock" Stehnach was extremely generous in donating the 12 Defense Archers this year. The winner will receive all sets but only one set of instructions to the set.
nanuck95 wrote:One quick question. For the training a knight scene, we are to build 3 separate scenes. Are we limited to 3 pictures per scene, or 3 pictures overall (ie, 1 picture per scene)? Just want to make sure.
Only one picture per scene is allowed.

I wasn't going to enter this year because last year's contest, quite frankly, left a bad taste in my mouth when it was over. Maybe I shouldn't have tried eating a brick to "become one with Lego" while working on that last MOC!

Seriously, I'm in. Will spend part of the day today reviewing categories and rules, and then begin planning. I will not finish dead last this year! (of course, that doesn't mean I'm going to win either, but it's all about the fun, right?)

What i meant is if i have to build a whole castle (with towers, walls, courtyard,..) or if i also could build a portion of a castle (like only a keep) for this category.

No. You must enter at least six different categories to be eligible for the master builder.
Yes, i know that, but if i enter five MOCs into five different categories, and two MOCs into another category, wouldthe two MOCS in the same category both count? (6 different categories and 7 MOCs)

You have to build an entire castle.

We would use the top score of the two mocs submitted in that category as one of the six moc scores to be averaged.

Hi! And thanks again for the CCC : o)

I have a question:

Eastern Medieval Life
Create a medieval building that is not located in Western Europe.

Does it mean it has to be ONLY ONE building? Or it could be two or more?
Greetings

Forget it, I've just found out the answer to my own question, but still, where do we post our entries?

Another year, another CCC. Another reason to build something Castlely.

The prizes are totally Awsome this year. At firat, when i saw the prize for the Misc catagory, I though (There has to be a mistake. Then i saw that there was 12 of them. Just wow. The prize for the Master Builders catagory is quite a catch, even for this contest!

Now to go build

Awesome, it's that time of year again. It gives you a warm, fuzzy feeling doesn't it? Smell that? hmmmm... fresh ABS right out of the box, the stink of competition, and the sound of a thousand keys clacking as fans think of new and inventive ways to challenge the guidelines - nothing beats that smell! It's the smell of CCC.

Thanks to the admin crew for hosting this, the most grandest of all LEGO Contests, and special kudos for coming up with such inventive catagories. Of course you have only dug yourselves your own graves by opening yourselves up to even more queries than ever before ;) Good luck to everyone...

Bang a gong it is on!

Excellent. I've been waiting for this all year. Some interesting categories too. Irritatingly, none of them are 100% suitable for the castle MOC I finished a month ago and have been waiting to enter. Grrrr. My fault for trying to anticipate categories I suppose.

That brick castle category is an interesting one. I'm predicting a bull market in red and sand red 2 x 1 tiles on Bricklink...
Increasingly irritated by the way real-world work impinges on building time...

That Eastern Medieval Life category sounds like it'll be great, in particular - I'm looking forward to all the mosques and new techniques to be explored!
