What Classic-Castle needs is a favicon.

Post by Jojo »

Hello!

[Same as subject line]
I have a favourites bar in my browser that shows an icon for every favourite. Except for Classic-Castle, which is how I immediately find CC: By looking for the blank/iconless favourite. ;-)
However, it would be nice if CC had an icon as well. The blue rimmed red and white shield would be the obvious solution.

Hey Jojo,

sounds like a good idea. How do we code this? I'd like to do this with my blogs as well.

Btw, check out the CCC. I'm expecting a 'religious life' entry from you.

I'd never really noticed it before but now that you've brought it up, I see that the only two in my favs are C-C and sister site ForbiddenCove. I'll bring it up there as well, thanks Jojo!

Trust me, I think I'm funnier than you do.
Why do I have to add the word "minifig" to my spell checker every time I use it?!

Since I'm not any good at coding myself, I let Wikipedia do the explanation:

When I was making my own one, the hardest bit was finding out how. There's specialist websites out there however that transform your image from a jpeg or gif into a .ico. From there it'll just be a case of inserting the script into your HTML.

Yes, we do need one of those. I like the idea of the shield.

Jojo,

This is a good idea. We will work on implementing it for Classic-Castle.

Use something like Online Image Converter to make your gif/png/bmp file into an ico file. It should be 16x16 or 32x32 pixels.

Name the file favicon.ico and upload it to the root web folder. It should now be accessible at http://www.classic-castle.com/favicon.ico.

Add the following somewhere between <head> and </head> in the source code:

Code: Select all

<link rel="icon" type="image/vnd.microsoft.icon" href="/favicon.ico" />
<link rel="SHORTCUT ICON" href="/favicon.ico" />

Tis about time that we finally gotten this. I was always wondering why CC never had one. but now it seems we will soon. And don't forget to give one to the Cove, too.

Great idea. Here's one if you want to use it for the site:

Hey cool! I just noticed the new favicon, and came over to check it out. Well done C-C, well done!

I'll take this opportunity to also thank the C-C 'staff'. We are all indebted to you and the time you spend building and maintaining the site.
Thank you again, for a home on the interwebs!!!
