Vignette A Week 06 - There Will Be Blood...and Venison!
Hello, fellow C-Cers!
Wow, six vignettes already. I am surprised I have gotten this far without giving up. It gives me hope for continued growth.
The idea for this vignette came from Robin Hood of Classic-Castle in chat one night. Thanks again, mate!
This is the first MOC of mine to feature a tree with non-parallel foliage and the first MOC to feature a brick-built animal. The deer (hopefully you recognized it as such) I am not wholly satisfied with, but I did the best I could, I think.
This vignette is dedicated to Maedhros of Classic-Castle. I told you I wouldn't stay away for long.
Comments and criticism are welcome.

The foliage is great! The deer may not be perfect, but it's still a good brick-built beast.

Nice work! Lots of detail. The positioning of the figure is nice.

Oh yes, dedicate the hunting vig to the resident vegetarian, way to go, manVoran_the_Scholar wrote:This vignette is dedicated to Maedhros of Classic-Castle. I told you I wouldn't stay away for long.
Anyway, I like the tree, it has an interesting and somewhat different design; the curved trunk looks quite good. I'm not a big fan of the legs of the deer but the rest of its body looks neat, especially the head. Fig positioning is good too but I dare say the deer seems to be a bit oblivious in the extreme (Joe Deer?)

... Unintentional, that, I assure you. I'll remember that next time.Maedhros wrote: Oh yes, dedicate the hunting vig to the resident vegetarian, way to go, man
EDIT: And besides, it's LEGO, man! Even if the fig released the bow, the arrow wouldn't go anywhere.
And the hunter has likely been sitting in the tree by the watering hole for an extended period of time, waiting for an animal to show up. I don't know much about hunting, but I do know that patience often brings rewards.
Thanks for the comments, guys!

Hehe, clever one. I'll rest assured no plastic animals came to harmVoran_the_Scholar wrote:And besides, it's LEGO, man! Even if the fig released the bow, the arrow wouldn't go anywhere.

Nice job! But you could make it a little bigger and that would make it more intresting.

Maybe, maybe not, in any case it would stop it being a vignette and as such kind of destroy the purpose I'd saySoman wrote:Nice job! But you could make it a little bigger and that would make it more intresting.

But, I don't mean like adding on another baseplate, I mean like adding on a few bricks too add the smallest deatil which can help your vignette to improve.Maedhros wrote:Maybe, maybe not, in any case it would stop it being a vignette and as such kind of destroy the purpose I'd saySoman wrote:Nice job! Hmm...if you have any suggestions, feel free to share them. To be honest, I think any further detail would detract from the focus of the vig: the relationship between the fig in the tree and the deer by the pool. With that in mind, I can only think of one improvement on what is actually there. The squareness of the baseplate seems inorganic compared to the rest of the MOC. A less-symmetrical baseplate might further convey the feeling of a wild forest to the critic. But you tell me: how can I improve?Soman wrote:

Awesome! The minifig posing is great, and I actually like the deer!
