BrickArms Chrome Blade Pack (and 3 others!) Now Available

Post by the enigma that is badger »

Hot on the heels of the recently-added Trans Packs, Will has now also added the BrickArms Chrome Blade Pack to the BrickArms line-up which includes all the great BrickArms edged accessories in electroplated chrome and is likely to interest any Castle fan looking to add some shine to the minifig accessory collection:

Also available are the Chrome Modern, Demolition, and Scifi Packs:

All BrickArms chrome accessories are produced via electroplating where the chrome is electromagnetically bonded to the part. It's the highest quality process of chroming there is, and these chrome parts won't chip or flake!

Each pack is $16 and is ready for order today! These are limited edition packs, and when they're gone, there's no guarantee they'll be available again.

Hmm... Nice collection of medieval weapons. The daggers aren't quite custom, are they? I believe I actually own one and I've never bought, to my knowledge, from BrickArms. I like the two longswords, and 16$ isn't to bad. I might check this out eventually.

Those are BrickArms "Combat Knife". They are superficially similar to Lego's daggers but quite different if you look closely.

I can attest to the quality of the Chrome Pack blades. They're quite amazing.

I also have the chrome blades. They are truly beautiful. My favorite is the rapier.

Josh is absolutely correct; those are BrickArms Combat Knives in chrome, and they are 100% Will's own work. Completely and utter custom!

There are some fairly marked differences between the BrickArms Combat Knife and the LEGO Knife, particularly regarding the edge of the knife, detailing, as well as the shape of the blade:

I'll also point out that as was previously mentioned, these BrickArms chrome items were produced using electroplating, a very, very expensive process that leaves the chrome electromagnetically bonded to the plastic. This gives a solid chrome coating that won't flake off with use. LEGO uses another chroming process that while much more amenable to the kind of mass production LEGO needs to use to produce its accessories in volume at a reasonable cost, the end result is a chrome layer isn't as tightly bonded to the item, and chipping and flaking of the chrome can occur with use (read: taking the item in and out of a minifig hand).

Enigma,

I have two questions for you regarding Brickarms. First, do you know when is the claymore coming out? I've been checking the site periodically ever since I saw the released prototype. I figure knowing the approximate release date will save me some time. BTW, the claymore is awesome.

Second, I am excited about the chrome weapons as well, but why sell them in packs? Selling them individually like all other weapons gives the customers more flexibility (ex/ someone like me who wants to buy like 10 chromed Dadao). I remember this happening a couple years ago with Brickforge too when it was only selling the Greek armor/helmet in sets, and it was quite inconvenient when you just needed a specific item (but they eventually got rid of the idea of selling sets, which I thought made a lot of sense).

Thanks,

Luke

Glad you like the Claymore! Unfortunately, I really can't comment on when it might be coming, but I can say that Will does have big plans for 2010. Keep watching, and I think you'll like what you see!

For a variety of reasons related to stock and cost of production issues. If you're interested in multiples of an individual chrome item, ToyWiz, an official BrickArms reseller, does have those available for order.

Hope that helps!
