CCCVII: Dissolution of a monastery 1536

Post by SlyOwl »

Henry VIII disbanded monasteries, friaries and nunneries in England between 1536-1541, essentially to take their money...

Really well done, all those small details on the monastery itself an the garden are really great!

Beautifull monastary! I love the roof, that is a great way to include the brown tiles as a repaired section.

Nicely done! Like how you used the reel to reel tape tile on the altar.

Thanks all! :D

Agreed, the soldiers are totally inaccurate... but so is the rest of the MOC! The Dissolution was largely a peaceful (as in violence-less) process - there was no mass slaughter of monks at all.

I only ended up putting the brown in because I ran out of 1x2s... and then I decided I like it a lot!

amazing building design, wish it wasn't cut in half, so we could see it as a whole.

Wow, Amazing work. The touch of history and the real "rotting" feel of the building, definitely make this one of the best I've seen. :twitch:

I think that you've put together an excellent creation here. I love the details you have included such as the patched roof and the cart in the inner courtyard. Is it me, or do the soldiers look like they're having way too much fun slaughtering the monks?
