CCCVII Entry - Bear Claw Castle

Post by shmails »

This is an entry into the CCCVII Fantasy Castle Category

THE BEAR CLAW CASTLE

Shortly after his escape, Gorang started to think about how to better secure the future of the clan. He immediately decided he needed a castle that befit his clan's power, history, and respect for nature. The entry gate is designed to intimidate all those who enter.

There are tons of angles and details here:

This is my first castle, my largest build to date, and the longest build as well. I put a lot of thought into the architecture and details so as to stay true to the Bear Claw Clan's other creations.

I would like to say how much fun I have had during this contest. It has really allowed me to stretch myself as a builder. Thanks to everyone who has supported the Bear Claw creations, it has been wonderful to see that others enjoy this clan as much as I do.

Enjoy!

Smashing! I'm loving the Bear Claw Clan in all its forms, but this just might be the best yet.

Thanks everyone! I had a lot of fun making this castle (and a few hair pulling nights!) and now have a whole new respect for those builders who make large castle creations on a constant basis, it is quite exhausting to me! :D

Wow-so awesome I had to come out of hiding to say great job!

Definitely imposing, and very cool original idea.

I like it. The attention to detail is brilliant. I have a few minor problems with it though. First, don't you think the castle is a little too clean? Also, don't you think its a little too 'jungly' for people running around in furs? And is it just me, or does the head look a little wolfish? Maybe its the colour.

P.S: Despite the length of my posts, the pro's outnumber the con's by miles.

Wow, really impresive castle. Ive liked all your mocs with the BCC, but this is absolutely one of my favorites. That bear head at the gate is just great!

Looks great! The bear design looks great, very recognizable as a bear and perfect for a fantasy castle entry. I also have enjoyed all of your Bear Claw Clan MOC's and this one tops them all (although the prison escape is a very close second). Good luck in the contest!

I love it! I have to say I think this is your best yet. The design incorporating the bear into the castle was great and the castle itself looks like a formidible stronghold!

The support I have received for my custom clan is overwhelming, I always worry that people will not accept the clan as it is not official castle, so it is always wonderful to hear that people like it so much. Thanks to all!

Thanks Outcast, the castle looks new because it is. The castle was just built as a response to the aggression with the crownies, so it has not seen a single attack or storm yet. The landscaping definitely is a bit more Jungle-esque than I wanted, but I wanted it to look like an overgrown wild flower field but ran out of yellow, red, and orange 1x1 round plates to make the flowers. As for the head, it should be a little wider and not so tall, but I had to alter the design a little to fit it on the base correctly. Thanks for your comments, I always appreciate constructive criticism! :)

Again, thanks everyone!

THUNDERCATS HOOOOOOOOO!

Sorry, couldn't help myself. It looks really good. I've enjoyed looking at all of your Bear Clan MOCs, and this one looks like a suitable lair.

That's a beautiful castle, one of the best (or the best?) fantasy castles I've ever seen. Master work...

Great castle! I love it how you incorperated the walkways into the arms of the bear.
Here comes the orator! With his flood of words,
And his drop of reason.

Woah, this is unbelievable. :o It's original, creative, and well built...I think we might have a winner on our hands here. At first, I almost couldn't believe it was made out of LEGO. Man, you have really knocked the socks off me. I will look at the rest of your creations for sure. I predict you will come in in at least the top three, but you have a very high chance of winning it all. I can't believe all the details in this MOC, no, ART. It left me speachless. :) Congrats on winning, hope you enjoy your prize.
