Is it Worth it?

Post by Lord Lego 436 »

There's a set which I really want to get, the 10210 Imperial Flagship. The pieces are 1,664, and the price is $230. I have about $250. The set looks really cool, but the price is huge, 70 dollars more than the Market Village for only 60 pieces more. :( Do you guys think it's worth buying?

The ship is really beatiful, but if you aren't a pirates fan I won't buy it.
Indeed I'm not gonna buy it: it's far too expensive.
Think about a second MMV instead!

You have to think of what you want in your collection. This set is nice for Pirate fans of course, especially as the main model, but if you are a builder more than a collector you have to ask yourself if you need these parts in this set. If you are making a purchase based upon what you need to grow your parts selection then you really have to ask yourself, "Do I want to build ships?" That's what this selection of parts will do for you. As the main model goes, it is very pretty. :)

Hiya, can you please change your topic title to actually read what "IT" is? Use the set number or set name but "IT" is not a very descriptive title and if you want people to read the title needs to be better.:D "Is it worth it" is usually a rhetorical question reserved for the deeply depressed, if you know what I mean.

As for if the Flagship is worth your time and money, only you can really decide that. In this era we can look at so many pictures of sets from so many different angles, check parts inventories and yeah, ask peoples opinions but your opinion is the best one for you.
As to your question, I'd say I don't know! Personally, I'd love to have one but it's not worthy enough for me to drop the dough on it right away. I already have enough parts that I could get away with bricklinking a few of the choice/new parts to build a reasonable facsimile. I'm going to watch for it to go on clearance and if that doesn't happen, I guess I'll have to let it slide (unless I come across a financial windfall). So, I guess it's not worth it to me. But it may be to you, if you're really jonesing for it.

If you don't have a MMV, I'd say get that first.

Actually, if your really seriously torn between the two, my advice would scrounge around and come up with the extra $20-$30 and get both.

This topic is about a pirate set and belongs in the General Lego Forum. I am moving it there.

Yes. I do think the ship is worth the asking price. Specialized elements such as the sails, hull pieces, and shooting cannon are expensive to produce.

Loreal is worth it!

So is the ship by the way.

I suppose the real question is whether you think it's worth it. We all have budgets and a finite amount of cash to spend. I would actually go for 2 market villages before buying the Imperial Flagship, but that's just me. If you're a serious castle fan though, I would take a good long hard look at the Market Village; it won't be here forever and the aftermarket prices will really hurt in a few years.

If past sets are our guide, the MMV and IF will double in price for a used copy and triple in price for a misb copy once the sets sell out. This happened with previous exclusive sets like 3739 Blacksmith Shop and the Legend Black Seas Barracuda. One of these days I should just buy two copies of sets like these and save one to resell. The profits would pay for both sets.

Whomever said "it takes money to make money", needs a swift kick right now! I have often considered speculating and hindsight has often shown me that I chose the correct sets to do it with but, the IF is just too much Canadian Moolah for my boss/book keeper/chef/wife to allow me. :(

If it were up to me, I would totally choose the MMV... it contains a LOT of very useful pieces, while the flagship doesn't serve much purpose other than to put it on a shelf for good looks...
