Medieval Life: St. Cadoc's Church

Hi all. Ive mainly been building pirate mocs, but i thought i'd start giving the castle theme a go. Im planning a large Camelot project which will have the main castle with inner town and the outer countryside with village. This church is one of the smaller churches that will be in the outer village. I plan to build all the outer village and countryside first before i start on the main castle. TEach section like this church will be built modular so they can all connect and form the large display. Lots of work, but should be fun. Enjoy.

That sounds like a really good (and brick-costing ) project you got there.
And for the church, it looks amazing, just like the other church you posted.
Btw. About this Camelot display, when will it be from (meaning about year 600, year 1000 and so on).And will Derfel be there? (if you dont understand what i mean (but i think you do) read the "Warlord" (think i heard someone call it that) trilogi by Bernard Cornwell)

That sounds like an incredible project! I can't wait to see it finished. If this is 'only one of several churches in one part of the landscape' the whole thing must get huge.
This first part looks great, the 1x1 rounds technique looks great on the church, and the landscape is also very realistic and detailed.
I have one suggestion though, some small windows or a little tower on the roof would make the big black survice look more interesting, it looks very plain now compaired to the rest of the MOC.

Have you ever thought about attending LEGO Fanwelt in Germany?
It's the biggest AFOL targeted event in Europe, and as you can see there were some awesome creations displayed last year. It is held again this year in November, and i can probably attend it and plan to take a castle display with me. It would be really cool if you could come with your camelot project, and we could maybe combine our landscapes.

That's a really nice taster for the camelot project, I particularly love the amount of and detail in the foliage and flowers.
Can't wait to see the finished thing, although judging from what you've said, this could be a while!

That tears it I'm buying a ton of rounds!!! Looks awsome, I would give you constructive criticism, but to do so would be a level of blasphemy that I am not willing to commit. I would like to ask if there is an interior, as the tavern in your fliker account has such a nice interior, it leaves me wondering what you would do for a church.

Alternatively, something a little closer to home would be The Great Western Lego Show (STEAM) in Swindon, here's my flickr set of last year's event. It's set up by the Brickish Association who run a lot of events in the UK. Sorry Dan for swooping on your post but there definitely isn't enough castle displayed at STEAM and I couldn't resist

Holy cow, Derfel Cadern, this is gorgeous! Are your other two major MOCs - that church and inn - still assembled as well? Those could all fall into place in your medieval city plan with minimal changes.

Thanks for all the great comments! I have chosen to go for the fantasy stlye of the Arthurian theme, as its more fun to build. Ive planned foor 16 modules alltogether, each one the same size as the church which is 80x80 stud square. Unfortunatly this will take years to amass all the pieces, but ive found away round this. I have recorded and photographed everything on this moc, so i can dismantle it(apart from the church) and build the next module and so carry on this process. Then by the end of the year i should have amassed enough bricks to go back and rebuild all the landscapes. @DNL, thanks, i agree on the roof, i can be lazy when it comes to roofs. As for a Lego show, i wont be able to get to Fanwelt this year due to a busy work schedule round that time. But id like to get there next year as i should have a lot of this project ready to display by then. Its a shame as ive always admired your mocs because they always have a realistic look to them and great landscaping, which is how i like to build. I think our styles would look great together in a castle display, so i'd deffinitly like to do that sometime in the future. @Karrde Thanks, i was going to go to STEAM last year, but couldnt make it, so hopefully get there this year with some castle dis[lays.
