Re: Collectable Minifigures?

I make no claim to any information beyond the pictures we've all seen, so this is just IMO. There's no logical reason why they would have random pieces rather than whole figs. Who is the bigger market to LEGO - the relatively small number of rabid fans who would buy polybag after polybag until they got the whole line? Or kids, kids' parents, and impulse buyers? As a parent, I know my daughter would be disappointed if I bought her a toy and there was just some random pieces and the vague promise that if I bought tons more, I just might get a whole toy, and I would be infuriated. Buying a polybag and not knowing which of 20 figs you'll get is fun, and will encourage me to buy a few more. Buying a polybag and getting a random hair, a torso, a face, legs and a random accessory would just be annoying and would encourage me to spend my money elsewhere. Yes, LEGO has made niche sets intended just for us, but those are always very high end expensive sets, and they're not chock full of new molds like these are.

Anyway, just IMO, and certainly easily proven or disproven in five months.

I'd like to get three or four of the forestman, just to add some zest to my woodsman figs.
A couple of the cowboys will do, and an indian or two to go with them.
Seven cheerleaders, six to make a pyramid and one to part out.
Two nurses, for the hair and head.
An army of the spaceman.
A ninja will do.
A caveman just because it's a friggin' caveman.
The rest will be trading fodder for me, here's hoping I get a ton of the zombie and skater boi to trade away as they sound like they'll be quite popular and in high demand.

Why do I have to add the word "minifig" to my spell checker every time I use it?!

So they will NOT just be in LEGO stores, we can get them at Wal-Mart too? (I guess if Wal-mart chooses to carry them)
Do you think these will be on the LEGO aisle or something that goes at the Trading Cards area?
^You should be more concerned with what's written above^

I hope they aren't very shoplift-able...retailers may decide it's a bad idea to carry them. I can see TRU possibly keeping them near the tills as true impulse sales, but I don't see walmart doing that.

http://www.brickset.com/news/article/?ID=531 :
Last but certainly not least, the collectable minifigs were on display: both series one and two. They are just so awesome and series two has just as many very cool figs as series one. Nearly every one features something unique be it a printed torso or an accessory which hasn't been available before and (I'm told) won't be used elsewhere. I learned some other facts about them: They will cost £1.99 in the UK. The yellow outer box will contain 60 minifigs. Some will be rarer than others. They won't be available in newsagents like WHS but from normal stockists. Series one will be out around May and series two in September-ish, so that gives us a reasonable time to collect them all. You can't really tell what's in the bag by feeling them as they are quite stiff. And, as the title of this article suggests, the cheerleader has a nice pair of pom-poms :-)
We will have to buy a lot of bags...

There goes the forestmen and space man. If this is true, I don't stand a chance of getting one now. :(

God bless.

I'm guessing that this is not the case. These aren't dealer catalog photos or anything like that. Toy show photos have been acceptable in the past so I'm not sure why this would be any different. I just hope that the Greek hoplite isn't one of the rarer figures given how popular he will undoubtedly be with army builders. These guys are probably going to cost a pretty penny on bricklink!
