Time for an introduction.

Post by Thunedar »

I'm new here! Go by the name of Clint, 29 year old AFOL, ALE, whichever pleases you. The Dwarf in me bellows "ALE!!"

Big fan of Dwarfs, bigger fan of Lego. I figured since I have at least a few posts up I should finally and officially introduce myself. I've watched the site for quite a few years. I finally registered in 2009, but that was a pretty busy year, so I never had a chance to post.

I work for a part of the military and currently reside in Washington state, I was at the most recent Lego convention in Oct 2009, Seattle style. I was not able to enter anything due to time constraints but it was amazing to see everything.

I have had two Dark Ages, the first when I originally joined the service in '99. My grandmother had gifted my Lego sets to a little boy up the street during my first tour. I parted with Knights Joust, the pre 1984 version, and just about every Castle Lego from the Dragon Masters, back. I picked my habit back up during Knights Kingdom, but was turned off by the large "Technic" looking knights. I bought impulse sets, and tried to be serious about it, but once again the service kicked in.

Finally after the second Dark Age, I had gotten a new bonus and dropped some cash on the Giant Fantasy Chess set. It stirred old emotions in me and I got very serious about recollecting and building.

Currently I am workin on building things based around Warhammer Fantasy, mostly because the new Fantasy Lego from Castle have the most wonderful parts to incorperate all the neat ideas.

The only other theme I touch is Pirate, mostly because Castle is missing alot of peasants, and pirates make into great peasants, and because well, the two themes really just tie in together. They also meld into the Warhammer theme very well. Plus my Dwarf engineers use rifles, so the weapons mesh very well.

I will admit I have parted out Indiana Jones, Agents and Power Miners to help build what I need. :eyebrows:

Anyhow, hello everyone, pleased to meet all of you.

I promise to be an active and considerate member, knowledge able when un expected and helpful when most needed.

Regards,

Clint

Welcome to CC! Did you attend the entire convention in October or just come in for the public hours? I was there, so I'm wondering if I met you. Have you been to a Sealug meeting yet?

Glad to have another person from Washington State here,
Josh

Aye, all hail Washington State  (I hate it when I say I'm from WA, and folks say "Oh, D.C!". Remember people, always include the "State" part...)

Guess I really can't welcome you here, since you've been on board longer than me... but still, welcome!

Hey welcome Thunedar! I'm sure you'll enjoy it here.

On the subject, I used to live in Washington :)

But that was DC ;)
Between plotting to kill you all and chasing balls of yarn, I also build MOCs

Of Course, State :D

Unfortunately I was only there for the open exhibit, work prevented any real fun.

I have not had a chance to visit a Sealug meeting yet. I'll definitely have to look one up.

Currently I and attempting to cruise Tacoma yard sales for some nice Lego finds.

Though the weather is definitely not agreeing.

Pleased to meet you. We really should have Classic-Castle cards to hand out to people at conventions.

How....ambitious of you. A guy has to wonder what would happen with more of you around here. I find it much easier to be knowledgeable when expected, and helpful when not needed.

I build, therefore I am.

Heh, when are you knowledgable? ;)
Welcome to c-c Clint. I have to ask now...is this pronounced 'thunder', 'thundar', 'thoondar', 'thun-eh-dar' or 'thoon-eh-dar'? Or perhaps some variation that I missed or was too lazy to type out?
Trevor

Trust me, I think I'm funnier than you do.
Why do I have to add the word "minifig" to my spell checker every time I use it?!
