Monthly Challenge #1: Medieval Weapons

Post by JoshWedin »

Hey Folks!

I'm hosting a monthly build challenge. No Rules. No holds barred. I give you an idea and you fly with it. Lets see what we can build!

This month's challenge will be full-size Medieval Weapons. Whatever you want. That's right. WHATEVER YOU WANT!

Post a pic in this thread and show us what has burst from the idea factory of your brain!

Btw, here's one I built:

I have no idea if I'll have the time to build for the challenge this month, but I look forward to many monthly challenges to come! It's a great idea, and since the seed part contests are a bit far-between, this will fit the bill nicely! Thanks!

Sounds like a good idea. I think i'll make a Life-sized castle. No for real, I'll see.

A shield would be real cool to do. I want someone to do a shield.

Not likely to enter, but you never know. It is a really cool idea, after all.

This was a challenge that really got my attention, being a weapons collector.
I hope you like my version of the Chokutō. Hopefully it won't be my last full scale weapon.

That is a beautiful sword. In the thumbnail it looks like there is writing on the blade. Your wife seems comfortable handling that weapon, is that a good thing or a bad thing?

Trust me, I think I'm funnier than you do.
Why do I have to add the word "minifig" to my spell checker every time I use it?!

There is a brick textured inscription on the blade. LEGO and swords are just two of the things she's had to become comfortable with living with me. I'd say it's a good thing ;)

Hey Buried,

Welcome to CC! Thanks for taking part in the Weapons Challenge. This is a lovely sword. Totally fooled me with the thumbnails on Flickr. :D

Well, I built my sheild, and took the pics, but have yet to put them on brickshelf (I tried Flickr, but the site won't load for me right now.)

EDIT:

Got some pics, and a little "story":

"Dum de dum dum"
http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Eleph ... cn8976.jpg

"Huh, what is that?"
http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Eleph ... cn8977.jpg

Jaw dropping noise "Oh, a big sheild."
http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Eleph ... cn8978.jpg

"I have claimed this sheild!"
http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Eleph ... cn8980.jpg

A pic of the whole thing, with me standing right beside it:
http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Eleph ... cn8974.jpg

And the back:

Took about one afternoon, one evinging, and another couple hours to build it. Fell apart no less than three times during the build.

Dang, EK, that's awesome! Way to go....I was not expecting something this cool when you told me you wanted to do a shield.

Wow, that is huge EK!
Awesome shield, it looks very neat.
Between plotting to kill you all and chasing balls of yarn, I also build MOCs

Thanks for the warm welcome Josh and thanks for the TBB love! (an invite to the Flickr pool maybe? :D) Perhaps someday I'll have enough bricks to build me an actual castle, until then keep up the interesting challenges!

@ EK - That shield is nuts! I'd mount that on my wall if I were you, Bravo!

Thanks for the kind comments on my sheild!

buriedbybricks: Well, It has already been dismantled, and it probably wouldn't hold up to well on my wall anywyas. Besides, too many useful bricks.

It seems I've had ninjas on the brain lately so this is what I came up with.
