Magna Carta MOC

This is just a quick MOC vignette I did today, hope you like it.

1215- English Barons force King John to sign the Magna Carta.

I like it! It's also kind of funny because I was at the US Archives the other day and I saw their copy of the Magna Carta. I think there were four original copies...?

Thanks for the comment, it's quite strange that there are copies all over the world; there is a copy of it in the German archives as well.
Strange how something first written in England ends up all over the world nearly 800 years later.

There were 42 copies of the original document from 1215, which were sent to each of the counties of England. Four of these survive today, all in England, but one of them has from time to time been displayed at other places around the world (e.g. at the US Archives in Washington DC). The Magna Carta was reissued several times, with some changes, and each time there were multiple copies made, so some of those on display might be later issues (1216, 1217, 1225, 1297). I know when I saw this on display at the US National Archives it was because this document is so important to the history of all subsequent constitutions (e.g. the US Constitution), since it limited (at least in theory) the power of the monarchy and defined the rights of (some of) the people. It's at the base of British Common Law, and therefore in turn had a direct influence on all nations that came from the British Empire, including the US.

I've allways considered those parts as little bushes, I got them out of a Town set about 15 years ago, I forget which one it was.

I am currently reading "The Magna Carta". I must say I am not too wild about the MOC though it is a lovely little vig. Thanks for the post.
